Blogrolls

December 11th 2006 00:38
You can now have a blogroll!

To do so simply create a Post with the title

Bottom Menu Section

You need to set the Short Title of the Post to "Blogroll" or "Other great blogs" or whatever you want the section to be called.

Be careful what you put in the post so you don't create havoc with the formatting. One link per line.

Only link to other blogs which deserve it! You are doing them a big favour as all Orble blogs are optimised for the search engines. Make sure they link back to you on their home page.

If you have any problems let me know.

Jon.

Jon,

Is this section to be limited to Orble blogs? Or are we allowed to post any blog?

Could I include a link to my lit magazine?

Hi Adele, the idea is to allow you to link to blogs outside of Orble and for them to link back to you.

You could certainly include a link to any other projects you were involved in.

Yeah I did it for shortfilmmaking, and it hasn't shown up. Help?

Is it supposed to show up on my homepage or at the end of every post? I made one but it just looks like a normal post called "Bottom Menu Section"...

It shows up at the bottom of the blog menu underneath the archives.

You will need to use left-justify button to make everything line up.

Sisi -- yours is there.

Jimbo -- yours is not. Did you delete it?

Adele -- which blog did you create it for and I'll have a look.

Yeah its there. I did on it shortfilmmaking.net, not anything else. Is this possible to move the blogroll above "recent posts" to give it a little more prominence?

Jimbo -- I can give you the option I just need 10 mins to do it. It's on the list

You can now create posts with titles "Middle Menu Section" and "Top Menu Section".

I've tried "Middle Menu Section" and "Top Menu Section" but they both seem to do the same thing - move the blogroll above recent posts

On shortfilmmaking.net. Just tried it again, and same thing happens - both the middle and top move the blogroll to fit between email subscription and recent posts. I'm ok with it if thats what its supposed to do, but if its a bug, thought I'd let you know. Have you got an example of what top, middle and bottom should look like?

I just had a look at shortfilmmaking.net. It is working ok -- you don't have any categories or forums so they end up in the same place.

THIS IS GREAT!! I have always wanted to link to blogs that I really enjoy, not only to make it easier for me to access them but also to give them some recognition. This may be the answer to the popular posts issue that has been getting so much attention, as well.

Thanks!
Voices~

I tried to do it, but it turned out as a regular post - with the link in the post.
Could you please fix this jon? Sorry, i am not "internet savvy".
Are you meant to type the link in the actual post - or in the part below that says 'link'
Either way, i think i messed up..

I also just tried this. It's just a regular post with a couple Really Long Links.

Anyone know if this still works?

It should still work just fine.

Send me the URLs of the blogs which you have tried this on and I'll try to see what's going on.

I just tried this and it came up as a normal post called "bottom menu section" (on waxingpolitical.com). Any suggestions?
