How to submit a Post

July 4th 2006 01:27

Submitting a post to an Orble Blog is dead simple.

First load your new blog into your browser by typing in it's URL. A brand new blog should look something like this:

Next, click on the "Create a New Post" link. This link will always be present at the bottom of your blog.

If you are not already logged in you will now be asked to enter your email address and password and then you will be presented with the post creation page.

To create a very simple post all you need to do is enter some text into the Title and Content fields and then click on the "Create Post" button at the bottom of the page. You will then be taken to the web page where your new post is displayed.

Remember not to use the browser's back button to return to the post creation page to make changes as you will end up creating a duplicate post. If you want to edit or add to your post then click on the "Modify" link underneath your new post.

It is often a good idea to see what your post will look like before it appears on your blog. To do this click on the "Preview Post" button instead of "Create Post". You will be shown what your post will look like and you can make any changes you think are necessary.
When you are happy with how your post looks click on "Create Post" and it will be uploaded to your blog. You can preview each post as many times as you like.

A common mistake for new bloggers is to not realise that the Display Time for each post is in GMT which may be different from their local time. If you set the Display Time for a post into the future it will not appear on your blog until that time.

Inserting pictures and links

July 2nd 2006 05:26

Just about every post should include at least one picture as they make the text so much more appealing. Which post would you be more likely to read? This one, or this one?

Creating and using categories

July 1st 2006 05:57

Categories allow your readers to more easily browse all your old posts and find what they are looking for more efficiently. They are also useful for attracting search engine traffic -- a topic for another post.
