Blog Channel Selection

March 22nd 2010 21:31
You can now allocate your blog to an Orble channel without going through admin.

To do so click on the "modify" link for your blog, and then choose a channel under the "Channel" section.

Note that your choice of channel propagates upward -- so if you select the "Romance" channel your blog will also be included in the "Film" and "Entertainment" categories.

You gotta love self-administration.

Jon,
how is it, that my latest post, on screentrek, (An Interview with Harrison Gilbertson), has not appeared in the list of "film" recently posted articles, and yet 2020/20's post on Beneath Nill 60, posted four days ago, is listed?.

Screentrek had alreaqdy been modified, as per your instructions above, some time ago I believe.

I want to know why my posts are not appearing in the general site lists, (and how long has this been going on?).

Would you check my sites and let me know please?
As I now see my last two film reviews, at least, have somehow been prevented from display.

thanks
fog

Oh, and maybe you should know, when I first went into modify some minutes ago, to check the screentrek setting, this message first came up;

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /community/blogs/modify/5583/.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

One last question, if we review all types of film, how do we then get the advantage, as you show above, of category in film and also entertainment? I have left it just at film, does that mean I get excluded from the entertainment list, and does that mean for each post we have to change the blog's modify setting?

cheers

fog

Hi Fog

Your post is in the most recent lists. Remember that you have to click on "All Posts" to view all the most recent posts. The default view is the 20 most popular posts. You can tell because it says "Film Popular Posts" or "Film Recent Posts" at the top of the page.

Regarding the proxy error -- we are still having some issues with the server during peak loads when the main disks are being backed up. We are trying to come up with a solution. If this happens just wait 30 seconds and then try to reload the page. I'll have to put up some kind of nice "error page" so people know what is happening.

Categories propagate upwards -- so if you list a post in film it will automatically appear in the Entertainment category as well.

Thanks,
Jon.
