Bliss in a cup
Everyday I go to work at about 3 in the morning give or take. Yes, I'm almost like a fisherman sailing early to sea to get the freshest catch into the market before everybody else wakes up.
I work for an american company working their busy operational hours while living in southeast asia. I wake up reluctantly crawling out of bed while being careful not to wake up my 3 year old son sleeping beside me. Husband wakes up (we work in the same company) and we both get ready for work without saying a word -- it's just too early for anything.
We get to work and everybody's already busy with the day's (or the night's) tasks, problems and To Do's. Our shift is actually in the middle of the day already in the US so most people have been at work for at least 4 hours already.
Once I sit down and open my Outlook -- I won't be able to stand up anymore save for a few bathroom breaks and meetings or interviews I have to make. This is why coffee is my bliss in a cup. Thank God, the coffee shop downstairs has agreed to our proposal of opening 24 hours everyday (I don't think they're regretting it!).
It's a very commercial coffee shop that coffee lovers/enthusiast would probably despise (I know you know the name...
), but it's my heavenly bliss for my weird working hours. Although I've been working this schedule for more than a year already and have gotten pretty much used to it, I still need a boost of caffeine to get me going.
If I sit in front of my PC for an hour without that Grande cup of caffeine infused goodness, I am 50% less productive. Roughly translated -- I'd be staring at my PC 50% of the time or re-checking whatever I've done more than twice forgetting that I've already done so.
This is why I will forever and always be thankful for my Starbucks
(no this isn't a paid advertisement... but I'm eager to get payment if they want to hahaha)
What about you? What gets you up and running once you get to work -- aside from a full night's sleep that is...(*envy*envy*)
