New Diet includes sex

June 5th 2007 05:58
Sorry I've not been on for a while, been a tad errrm busy

You see I discovered something in physiology the other week.

The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that tells you body if it's satisfied or not be it hunger, thirst or sexual desire.

I read a lot, I will come back and fill in the rest later, but suffice to say I focused in on what was important to me at the time. How to reduce my hunger.

Appaerntly the hypothalamus cant' really tell what's being satiated it just knows it is. Ergo drinking water when u feel hungry satiates ur appetite unless ur body really is needing nourishment in which case you'll soon feel hungry again.

However, apparently saitating one area heps saitate another.

So I took this literally and set about proving their theory right. Afterall, who wouldn't want to at least attmempt to prove it, right!

So poor hubby has been busy, my appetite for food has gone down dramatically. Don't get me wrong I've been eating and well, it's just that that niggling nagging knawing 'must eat' something that picking even when not really hungry, has all but disappeared.

I've eaten healthier foods too, not out of conscious choice but out of want.

And this week I lost 2 kilograms!!!

So, my advice is go and get..... some lovin

Will post more on hypothalamus later ....

Happy shrinking all.. whatever way you can do it.

Size does matter!

May 23rd 2007 08:23
Calorie control alone is not enough to shift this lard that's come to know my body as it's mother ship.

It's time to pull out the big guns (just wish I could afford $250,000 for the complete overhaul and be done with it.. but alas, lotto just isn't playing the game!). And so I've invested in a pedometer. A little grey matchbox size thingymajig that sits on your waistband and counts how many steps you take.

Yes, it's not enough that I have a mechanical soapbox to stand on to tell me how many grams is squished into my skin, I now have a little mechanical contraption to tell me how far, or in my case, how far I haven't walked, that day.

"They" say, and they being anyone who knows anything about diet and exercise, apparently, that 10,000 steps per day is the going rate. Anything under and I'm destined to live a life of lardiness and laziness, anything over, and well Heather Turland better watch out!!

So it's with pride I strode around today. Parking al ittle further away at school and making the kids trudge the extra few metres. Did the same at the shops, the library, the post office and then at home even walked up to the post box. Yes, apparently all those little bits to add up.

Oh and before you get started you have to set up your pedometer to read your steps right, cause apparently, where steps are concerned, size does matter!

Happy shrinking

Why Eat more!

May 22nd 2007 08:45
I'm constantly amazed that the healthier I eat the more I am able to eat and remain with in my calories. It's not rocket science, but for myself, who's never been a good cook nor judge of something's nutrition, this is a new phenomenon for me.

What I used to eat for morning tea never filled me up and yet used all my week's calories at once. First lesson learnt. Eat breakfast! No, leftover pizza washed down with a coke spider and half a packet of Tim Tams afterwards does not count as breaking the fast. Not that I really ever ate that for breakfast.

in fact I've never been one to eat terribly. See I'm still in denial. You don't get to 120 kilograms without eating! HELLO AM I LISTENING TO MYSELF?

It's not the big binge meals each and every day that got me here, no it's the half a block of chocolate here, the entire LARGE bag of BBQ chips there, the one too many Popcorn Chicken from KFC's each week, the butter on everything, the lack of fruit and veg in my diet, my constant 'never full' feeling.

However, having dealt with a major issue lately I've finally found my 'full' place. That point where I know I'm full. I know I can't fit another thing in and don't want to, and that's before even eating the entire meal. I'll blog on that one day when I'm brave.

Yes, learning to eat more, has been revolutionary for me. More vegies, more fruit, more wholegrains, more of the good (as in healthy) things in life. That's not to say I'm not indulging in chocolate at "That" time of month, nor ignoring the call of Vino from my pantry. No, I'm living life, and making conscious decisions and choices about what I put in to my body.

And, on top of that eating more and more regularly, is also speeding up my metabolism, which we all know is a huge bonus!

Why eat more? As long as you stay within your calorie intake, it forces you to eat the right foods, and gets your metabolism moving. Both crucial in losing weight. So I'm now a 3 meals a day and 3 snacks a day girl all within 1550 calories. Go me!

Today made the most amazing home made pizza: Lavash bread, low fat pizza sauce, low fat cheese, capsicum, onion, low fat ham, pineapple and olives. YUMMMMMMM ANd less than 7 grams of fat in the half pizza I ate.

PIcked up a pedometer today and "THEY" say should aim for 70,000 steps over a week. So that's my new goal, to walk 10,000 steps per day or 70,000 over the course of the week. Of course anything over the sedentary 3000 I now do will be a great bonus.

Onwards to a healthier me

Reinventing myself..

May 21st 2007 08:04
Changing your lifestyle really isn't that hard at all. Reinventing myself is how I'm looking at it from now on.

After seeing a TV show last night about the top 40 celebrity make-overs, I figure if they can do it, so can I.

Day 1 Here we go..

May 20th 2007 23:10
Well here we are. Day 1. Let's go!

Full of enthusiasm this morning. Bounced out of bed ready to go, okay, so it was more of a slow death roll til my feet hit ground, but I was bouncing on the inside!

Day -1

May 20th 2007 08:08
Well here I am at day minus 1. I've just had a weekend away living in the lap of luxury and eating like it was my last meal.

Well actually not really. I surprised myself at how much my stomach has shrunk and although I didnt hold back on the pastries at breakfast, I did exercise some restraint for the rest of the weekend

Shrinking Woman 101

May 18th 2007 13:03
If I had a dollar for every diet I've ever been on I could afford to hire Oprah's personal trainer, chef, dietitian, nutritionist, naturopath and Rhonday Byrne, of The Secret fame!

No seriously, I've tried them all. Well all except actually cutting down my calories by eating sensibily and exercising regularly. Sounds so easy really doesn't it.
