Big Trucks and Little Cars

Im in Calif. today. Broke my butt to get here. There were several trucks going down the highway in a line near Fresno when a little four wheeler cut in between me and the truck ahead of me. Some people are so stupid they think a big truck can stop on a dime. We CANT! The truck ahead hit his brakes and the little car was almost a sandwich. I stood on my brakes til black smoke rolled out. My truck stopped less than a yard behind him. 56 miles an hour to zero in just a few seconds. If Id been blinking when the truck ahead of me hit his brakes, that little car would have been toast. The little jerk probably didnt even know how close he came to getting dead.
Heres a warning for everyone who drives. Don't cut between trucks and expect them to be able to stop for you. That driver got luckier than he'll ever know.
One more consaquence of his foolishness was the damage it did to my load. I was hauling pallats of canned tomato pulp. When I had to slam on the brakes, the load shifted and cost me $200. to get it put back right before I could deliver it. That money came out of my pocket. It also kept me from getting to where I had to be (made me three hours late) and will prevent me from getting much sleep tonite. I had three whole hours last nite. So whether the boss likes it or not, as soon as I get unloaded and get the new load on, Im going to bed.
