D-Rose MVP, LeBron Shines On

May 4th 2011 15:38
Big Props to Derrick Rose, youngest NBA MVP ever. It's been a fantastic ride this season, and hopefully he can continue to add to his dream season with some more wins.

It has been pointed out to me that Dwyane Wade's role as team leader for the Miami Heat is more evident than ever following Miami's Game 2 win over Boston. It's interesting to me that this comes after a magnificent 2nd half performance from former MVP LeBron James.

When I watch the Heat play, I can't help but think that LeBron is a far better player than Wade in virtually every aspect of the game and that it is just a matter of time before it becomes clear to everyone. LeBron isn't the type to demand entitlement over his buddies in Miami, but if the Heat haven't taken down a championship by LeBron's 3rd year, it could be a whole new situation.

The cream always rises to the top over time, and the Heat will be no different. Wade should accept his role as the next Pippen, and the team will benefit greatly from it. I doubt that will ever happen and likely Wade will be run out of town, once his reign is questioned for the first time.

Luckily, that will not be in doubt in Chicago anytime soon.

Have fun, Miami, this is what you asked for.

NFL Draft Tonight

April 28th 2011 17:53
It's Draft Night again for all you NFL lovers who could be left out in the dark if things between the owners and players don't get worked out sometime soon. However, tonight serves as a little taste of a reminder that somewhere behind-the-scenes, the NFL does still exist and it'll be back and better than ever in due time.

All of the experts have labeled Cam Newton as "not the best player in the draft," but almost certainly whom the Panthers will draft with the first overall pick tonight. As a fan of the Panthers, can this be considered a good thing?

Here's what people are overlooking in this debate on who the first pick should be: There is no choice here. They must draft Cam.

He is the only player in the draft that has the leadership qualities that Carolina so desperately lacks following the departure of Jake Delhomme. Love him or hate him, Cam has the "it" factor that head scouts and marketers all spend their entire careers searching for. In 8 hours from now, I expect that he will be the new face of the franchise.

You can't say that about any of the other players that are being considered with the top pick. It would be one thing if the Panthers could trade for other players, but in this state of NFL purgatory, GM Marty Hurney must make the tough decision.

I hope that it is untrue that the Panthers are still considering 4 different players for that pick only hours from the draft (the past few months wasn't enough time with no free agency?), but I certainly look forward to watching the drama unfold this evening.
