Svensk Hyllingsfest

Yesterday(Saturday, October 8th) I took a trip back to my hometown of Lindsborg to attend Svensk Hyllingsfest(Swedish Honoring Fest) which occurs every two years on the second Friday and Saturday in October.
The whole community comes together to celebrate the Swedish herritage of the town, from the grade school children to the adults, who wear Swedish style folk clothing and perform Swedish folk dances. There is also a Hyllingsfest King and Queen, both who are chosen for their contributions to the community. The parade was yesterday so I brought my son along. All was going well until it started to rain, which it continued to do off and on until we left. But we still had a great time, as we hung out with my dad, grandma and uncle to watch it.
I participated when I was a kid, and I regret to this day of not being a part of the highschool Swedish Folk Dancers, because they travelled to Sweden my freshman year. I wish everyday that I still lived in Lindsborg so that my son could participate.
