Ramble On - Or How I Get Through This Life

Before I Die I Want To

October 9th 2008 04:13
I am intrigued by the Before I Die I Want To project. The concept is compelling. In the author's words:

The Before I die I want to... project was inspired by a combination of factors: (1) the “death” of the Polaroid, (2) a psychologist’s tool called safety contracts, and (3) a passion to get people to think about (and act upon) what is really important in their lives through this simple, very straight-forward question.

The entries run the gamut from the thought provoking to the absurd. Here are a few of my favs

(be forewarned the freakishly horizontal site is a bit off putting)

What say you readers?

Mis Lust Bunny,

There were a couple I really liked.

Before I die I want to write a will. (that appealed

And the guy who wrote something like, I want to work out why I have a problem being intimate with women. (I'm surprised you didn't pick up on that one ...

I love the look of Polaroid photos... they have this grainy nostalgia!

Hi Miss,

In my Buddhist studies we spend much time focused on the impermanance of life and the amazing grace of having been given a human birth.. great to see that its spreading to all four corners of the globe..

..sad how many little girls dont realise they are already princesses.

Lilla ...

Hey Mis,

I found that site very depressing! A few 'before I die I want to be rich' comments interspersed with a couple of 'before I die I want to have a relationship' ones.

The only one I liked was by a young man: 'before I die I want to throw the grandkids in the pool'.

Obviously he just wants a long, happy life surrounded by close familly.

Well, I hope that's what he meant by throwing grandkids in the pool! Maybe he just doesn't like children.

the man who said "i could die right now" must have it all together huh?? and i was struck by the tangibility of so many of the wishes....i'm with ya lilla. all little girls should be made to realize that they are princesses by the way that we love them. ok everybody, step outside of your box today...!

At first I laughed at that one until it dawned on me that the guy might be serious.

And the guy who wrote something like, I want to work out why I have a problem being intimate with women. (I'm surprised you didn't pick up on that one ...
Oh now Lady.....

Always a pleasure

Me too! I own a polaroid but have not used it in years!
I am kind of sad that this "technology?" will be going the way of the dinosaurs....

Hiya Lilla

So true and well put. I was also taken by the number of folks just want to be connected to "spmeone" before they die. I was glad that getting rich wasn't the overall pre death goal!

..sad how many little girls dont realise they are already princesses.

Amen to that sister!

Hope you are well!

I am with you. I thought that I was the only one disturbed by this. To me it was like rubbernecking at a fatal crash to watch the head roll (shame on me).

Well, I hope that's what he meant by throwing grandkids in the pool! Maybe he just doesn't like children.

HAHAHAHAHA! I liked that one too but now your comment makes me like it even more.

Hi Okee!

I am out of my box today that's fo sho.....
The little girl with the princess wish made me kind of sad. "My baby" in Houston and yours both embrace their inner princess!

You are so right about this sister
they are princesses by the way that we love them
