Hallo, Ich bin der Beau Rox. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut, aber Ich spreche ein bissien. Ich weis/glaube Orble ist eine grosse website !!! Ich hab die Google gaseen. Est ist numer eins !!! Super !!! Gantz toll !!!
So, Ich will hier spreche ein bissien Deutsch, unt, wan Ich kahn nicht, Ich will English spreche, ja? MY GERMAN SUCKS !!! (Ich bin ein bissien ruslich) So, Ich bleibe in San Francisco, California. Ich war in Columbus, Ohio (U.S.A.) wan Ich bin ein kinder. Dan, Ich war in die U.S.Army, ja, "ein Army", unt Ich war in GIESSEN/GieBen, bei Frankfurt. Ich eine freudin (GIRLfriend - let's get that right) gehat. Schtimpt das? Sie bleibt (?) in Asslar/ABlar, bei Wetzlar. Sie war meine erste fruenden. (She was my first girlfriend)
Ich geht (went?) (to the delicatessans, and ice cream parlors, and coffee houses). Ich kahn (remember?) 'Dach Cafe'. Es ist in Giessen. Meine fruenden unt Ich (went there all the time, at least a couple times a week, just to look out over the town). Mein Deutsch ist shlecht, Ich habe das shoen gesacht, ja? =)
Unt Ich war (at) Swannen Teich (Swan Lake) in Giessen. THAT was a fun place to hang out. One time, I'LL NEVER FORGET THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, I was with Suzy, my girlfriend at the time, we were at Swan Lake, and a pair of swans started FLYING, I didn't know they could fly. They went around the pond probably 4 or 5 times. It was BEAUTIFUL to see. And every time they went over us I could hear thier big wings flapping. I was awestruck. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life, thus far, to see what God has made, and experience the beauty of it all. Someday I'm gonna write a song about it.
Anyway, yes, being an young American man, and being into history, I wondered about World War I and II. I had a friend at the time, he's a great guitarist, named Tommy Schmieder, he lived near Giessen. We spent a lot of time together. I once asked him about Hitler, and he didn't want to talk about it. Months later I asked him again, and he said, "we are ashamed of the whole Nazi thing, it's like if I were to ask you about American slavery." I learned something that day too. About human nature, and that we can change for the better. I was only interested in World War II because I've always felt that if we don't know our history, history can repeat itself. But that day, Tommy taught me that a whole nation can look toward the future in a positive way. That's something else I learned that will stick with me the rest of my life.
I used to go see different castles with Suzi, my girlfriend. We went on the weekends. I wasn't into the Army at all. I only joined it to see the world. I was an artist, and from day one in the U.S.Army, I knew I'd made a big mistake. Not to put down those who serve in the U.S. armed forces, but it just wasn't for me.
After Tommy made that statement, I never wanted to go to Berlin, or any of the concentration camps. Or Eagles Nest. I didn't need to. I knew the history of it all. That was enough for me.
All I know is that when I think of the German/Deutscher people, there's a soft spot in my heart for you all. You're wonderful. And THANK YOU for letting me live in your country for 2 1/2 years. It was a GREAT experience.
And, lastly, for now, I'LL NEVER FORGET, I WAS TRAVELLING THROUGH SOME SMALL TOWN, IN A U.S.ARMY TRUCK, 8 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING, THERE WAS AN OLD MAN, I'D SAY HE WAS IN HIS LATE 70s, AT LEAST, HE WAS REPAIRING A HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD... WITH A B E E R IN HIS HAND !!! =) I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT !!! =)
Well, I've shared some experiences here. I hope anyone reading this gets something positive out of it.
