Basketball Contract - $66 mil, Lying about Moped Accident – Priceless

This offseason has been an interesting one for the Golden State Warriors. Baron Davis left for the Clippers, they probably overpaid for two free agents (Corey Maggette and Ronny Turiaf), and their $66 million point guard injured himself “working out”. Monta Ellis later admitted that he was lying about how he injured his ankle and informed the Warriors that he injured his ankle in a moped accident. So what are the Warriors left to do? From everything that I have read, there was language in Ellis’ contract that prohibited him from riding a moped. Do the Warriors void the contract and send him on his merry way? Yeah right – if you believe that, I am a former NBA player who had his career and millions cut short in a tragic bicycle accident! The Warriors are left with nothing to do other than maybe suspended him for a few games. With Baron Davis in Clipper-land, Monta becomes their point guard and their superstar-of-the-future. Do you risk the future of your franchise for a childish mistake? It will be interesting to see what “discipline” the Warriors hand out.
