Sorry about that folks!
I know, not the best way to get things moving around here -- to post a couple of thoroughly entertaining posts, and then disappear. Unfortunately, October got in the way of life -- or perhaps life got in the way of October. I'm not really clear on the order of things. All I do know is that I looked up yesterday and took my first full breath of fresh air in longer than I care to count, and realized that my next paycheck had been deposited.
It's a sad life when you judge the passing of time by child support checks and paychecks....
Ah well, as I said, I'm finally breathing clean air again. Long story short, the units I planned for school are now over and almost over....all my darling children's parents have been contacted...my Student Council officers have been fired and will be reelected within the next couple of weeks....and my divorce will be painfully completely 100% without exception complete at 9am on November 17.
It's odd how the ending of vows is something that comes with more certainty than the taking of them. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Which leads me to a touch of commentary on divorce. I've realized lately that it's a bit like when you were six and you had a fight with your best friend. You go through all of the toys you're playing with, and you divide them up and storm off to your respective homes. At first you are angry and seething...then the anger calms a bit, and you start to be sad. You look down and realize that it's not as much fun to play dolls by yourself....you try to play candyland, but realize that you win every time...even watching TV leaves you with comments and no listeners. So you set off to make ammends with your best friend, and you walk up to the door ready to accept appologies, and even - if necessary -- offer one of your own. His mom lets you in, and you walk to his bedroom, expecting to find him in the same state of loneliness as you. Only instead you find that instead of wallowing in sorrow and anger he's called and invited the girl down the street to be his new best friend. They're halfway through a game of candyland themselves before you even walk in -- and somehow, when you discover she's holding the red gingerbread man, you know that it's forever.
Wow. OK, I'm sure that's all deep and meaningful in it's own Grey's Anatomy voiceover kind of way. Maybe someday I'll read back over it and see the depth -- for right now I'm too tired. This whole breathing fresh air again thing wears me out fast!
I'll leave you with a heartfelt suggestion. When -- not if -- you find YOURSELF drowning in reality and you need an escape, I strongly suggest the Sex Bomb by LUSH bath products (www.lush.com) Pop one in a tub of steaming hot water, slip in yourself until only your nose and mouth are above water, and essssccaaaappppeee...
