Bare Essentials Safety Video

July 2nd 2009 17:02
Air New Zealand wants you to pay attention to the in-flight safety video. They may just have a way to accomplish this. The video features flight attendants, both male and female, wearing nothing but body paint!

Sure this is an attention-getter, but does the message really set in? It is meant to follow the airline's 'Nothing to Hide' ad campaign on domestic fares.

Since this article doesn't mention the 3 notorious letters associated with incompetent airport security, here is a waste of airport resources that could have been utilized for a real emergency. Federal security screeners...is that what we call them now?...summoned a bomb squad to detonate a suspicious container that turned out to be mangoes!

In the tradition of Inspector Clouseau, these airport screeners are doing a hell of a job in making people not want to fly!

Just like that Peta thing, I'm about to have a spin-off from this blog about our illustrious federal airport screeners!

Dumb Dramatics

June 25th 2009 00:02
If you ever wondered why airlines should charge for luggage, this next drama story should convince you. If nothing else it makes you take less than you would.

If you are on a flight that is not full, there might be a concern for weight distribution. People may be asked to move to other seats to balance the weight. Well, some people have a problem with that and they will stage dramatics to prove it!

I'm sure that lawyers are standing by to help the unconditionally stupid!

Back To TSA

June 21st 2009 22:26
If you ever heard that song about do, re, mi, etc., we know that eventually we get back to DO(H)! Though I try to lay off the biggest security joke to come around since mall-security, the TSA does not help itself out and I fear that an act of terrorism is inevitable. Of course this is just my opinion, but the TSA isn't doing much to polish its @$$h**e image!

I know for a fact that cash amounts are questioned when they exceed $10000, especially on international flights. Well judge for yourself

Close Call

June 19th 2009 23:24
There was almost a near miss collision at Logan Airport between an aircraft and a vehicle. A construction vehicle crossed into the main runway as a US Airways flight was given the OK for take-off from the tower. It's obvious that it is the vehicles fault. The tower must clear you before you cross runways and taxiways.

Vegetable Powered Aircraft

June 19th 2009 15:38
The airline industry has seen an advance in its technology when it comes to jet fuel. Boeing has been testing veggie powered jet fuel that is not only cleaner but seems to out preform the petroleum-based fuel.

This is good news for both the environmentalists and the airline industry and comes on the heels of a worldwide operation to strip our dependence on oil. But as of now, I wouldn't count on it being cheaper

The Unexpected

June 18th 2009 17:07
Time to show some compassion for Continental Airlines who had a pilot die in mid-flight. The Boeing 777 from Brussels landed safely at Newark with two pilots at the controls. One of course was the First Officer.

History Repeats Itself

June 17th 2009 19:54
Sometimes when you have an implacable record a few mistakes might be overlooked. But Continental is repeating mistakes that show nothing more than incompetence!

It seems that Continental has lost a child, not once but twice! This time it was an 8 year-old

The Lost Child

June 16th 2009 21:40
I didn't know that if you send an 'unaccompanied minor' with an airline, you pay an extra fee to make sure the child arrives at the destination. Apparently, Continental put someone's 10 year old child on the wrong plane!

Continental is once again having a run of bad publicity

Airlines and The Bottom Line

June 16th 2009 16:43
Since most airlines already filed for bankruptcy protection, it is an option that they are trying to avoid. A couple of automakers went into bankruptcy protection. Still this recession has hit airlines hard and there seems to be no immediate end in sight.

What are airlines doing to protect their bottom line? By stocking cash and shrinking. Shrinking is the keyword. Even airlines that seem to be doing well are struggling with their cash situations. Even with gas prices lower than a year ago, there is still a big loss in revenue due to policy changes and such
