Runaway Love - Must be read!!!

January 4th 2007 06:52
Runaway Love is a song from the album, 'Release Therapy' produced by Ludacris, which also features Mary J Blige. The lyrics to this song are amazing. It's about four girls between the ages of nine and eleven who have experienced all types of abuse within their household.

Mary J Blige was once a victim of such abuse. She had dropped out of highschool, began drug dealing, and was also sexually abused by a family friend.

According to the wikipedia website all the different stories told in the song are true. The only difference is that the names have been changed out of respect and for the privacy of the child. The only thing that remains is the first letter of their name.
For example, Lisa is the first girl who Ludacris talks about, however in real life her name could be Leah.

It is currenlty ranked number 22 on the U.S.A Billboard Hot 100, and number 5 on the U.S.A Rap tracks.

I must admit, that this song is quite deep, and many girls and guys can relate to it. Below is the filmclip of the song. Listen to the words carefully and enjoy!

Liquid Dancing

January 3rd 2007 03:00
Liquid Dancing is associated with rave, however it still combines many elements of popping.

The dance is called liquid dancing, because of its flow-like nature, and the illusions it creates. When liquiding you need to incorporate waves, rails, traces, threads, contours, splits, builds, and hand flows.

Many dancers include glowsticks to enhance their illusion, however when using glowsticks the term liquid dancing is changed to glowsticking.

The difference between popping and liquid dancing is that popping
contains hard hits and contractions, whereas liquid dancing doesn't. Liquid dancing is often danced to trance music, whereas popping is danced to electrofunk music. In today's age however, popping is commonly danced to hip hop and rnb.

The Robot

January 2nd 2007 06:32
The robot is a dance style combined with popping.

When a person robots they try to imitate a dancing robot. Their body joints are bent, and are further enhanced with small pops to create the illusion of stopping and starting.

A similar style to roboting is called the broken robot, where the dancer shakes rapidly to show that the robot is breaking down.

The robot dance became famous when Michael Jackson devised a routine in 1974, 'Dancing Machine'. The musician Buckethead is also known for robot dancing.

I must stress this point in my article, that the robot dance is totally different from liquid dancing and popping.

The first clip is Michael Jackson dancing, and the second is Hyun Joon dancing. Enjoy!

Locking

December 21st 2006 12:01
The creator of Locking was a man called, Don Campbell. In the 1960s, he put together his own moves when performing. It was originally called Campbellocking, but is now only known as Locking. In the 1970s, he developed Locking dance groups and then finally put together a dance group called the Lockers.

Locking is a style of funk and street dance. It is quite the opposite of popping because instead of flexing your muscles, it relies on fast and distinct movements of the body. The name locking is based on the movements. For instance, when a locker freezes from a fast movement, holds that position, and then continues in the same speed as before. The mime style is also considered part of locking

As far as i know there is a rumour going around over the net that he sneaked into an 18 club and was shot, but i really cant believe that because if he had died it would have been all over the news. Besides, there is a baseball player called Chris Brown who died. Hope this eases the tension!
