85 Year Ban on NZ Apples Could be Lifted
December 1st 2006 04:49
The Australian reports that a ban on importing New Zealand apples into Australia, put in place in 1921 to prevent fire blight, could be lifted under strict conditions.
Growers from neither country are happy with the situation. New Zealand growers claim the restrictions are excessive while Aussie growers say they don't do enough to protect Australian fruit.
Whatever happens New Zealand growers will continue the fight to export their apples to Australia, should or will it ever occur?
