Orble.com-Adelaide, Australia-Darren Andrews 04/04/09-Day 2 of the International Rugby Sevens Adelaide. First game of the day saw The All Blacks take on Tonga in what can only be stated as a white wash New Zealand defeating Tonga 33 - 0.
In the first half it was 19-0 with 5 trys for the match for New Zealand and zero trys to Tonga. New Zealand making 4 of their 5 conversions. Tonga with one stastic better than the New Zealand, Tonga with 51 completed passes to New Zealand 41. New Zealand making 24 effective passes to 11 Tonga missed 7 of their tackles where New Zealand missed 2 of their tackles. In the second match of the day it saw The United States up against Wales. Wales defeating the US 24-10. Australia up against Samoa both teams 2nd pool match. Its Samoa drawing first blood with two quick tries in succession. Australias Dominic Shipperley in a desperate attempt to foil another Samoa Try kicked the ball into touch. Aust. With their 1st try score 7 to 12 Samoa Aust making the most of the mistakes made by Samoa with two quick tries in quick succession. Australia winning their 2nd game defeating Samoa 26-19 keeping Australias finals aspirations alive. "One again we have beaten a quality side so I am just delighted for the boys because they shown that they finish off close out the game. Particularly happy their because we didnt have the ball for the first four or five minutes. And so proffessional and precise with their restarts Samoa." Australia's next match up is agains Portugal who lost in their second pool match to England 29-0. If Australia can defeat Portugal Australia would have beaten every team in their pool.
