Another pointless inquiry?
April 3rd 2008 11:41
According to the newspaper the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) is investigating grocery prices and competitiveness in the industry. The chairman, Graeme Samuel said that contradictory claims from the different parties was “fascinating”. Another word for bullshit?
The inquiry is to get to the bottom of why farmers are getting so little when everyone is forking out so much at the cash register. "We have parties who will privately tell us they are doing extremely well and making very good profit margins, and then in the public arena say that they are suffering," Mr Samuel has quoted. "There's either an inconvenient truth being told publicly or an inconvenient truth being told to us - or an untruth, as the case may be."
They want to assess whether or not shoppers are being treated fairly and even though this is supposed to be in the public interest some of the parties gave information in a private session today. The chairman stated that information aired in the private sessions had potential to be damaging if made public. Isn’t that the point?
This is just going to be like the whitewash about petrol prices. The oil companies aren’t rorting the system yet the prices go up every holiday and have nothing to do with oil prices. Every time they investigate they tell us there is no evidence of price fixing. Sure there isn’t. I saw a pig fly by today too.

This isn't useless it's great money for all of those involved.
Outcome? oh, we don't worry about the non-essentials. But the enquiry is just great, can't wait for the next one. They may pay me to make their coffee, better money than ad cents, I believe.

There must be a lot of middle men in there somewhere, I wonder if they'll ever tell us the truth.
