Another Day for TSA
September 12th 2009 14:53
Well my favorite airport nightmare has done it again. In their defense, the person had some suspicious items like Arabic flashcards, passport stamps from Middle Eastern countries, and a Jordan student ID.
The student learned a hard lesson about our post-9/11 world. According to TSA, it wasn't the student's articles that got him screened and arrested.
From the article:
Davis said that George had been selected for screening before he even reached the metal detector by TSA behavioral-detection officers, personnel trained to screen passengers for "involuntary physical and physiological reactions that people exhibit in response to a fear of being discovered."
I wonder if the behavioral-detection officers don't incite the reaction which they seek, seeing that most will stare-down, follow and invade their target's personal space. This has been my personal experience and may be a rarity rather than a norm.
