the setting, a permaculture forest.
The chicken walked decidedly into frame, pecking at the ground, and moving about as if in a day dream. But as you see closer into the chicken's eye it seems to flash with the thought that it may be daydreaming. As the picture zooms out from the chicken's eye it slows and allows the focus to come to the sliver of a child's eye poking out from behind the base of a tree. The Child reddies herself and swiftly moves to grab the chicken which springs to action, avoiding capture in a flurry of screeches and bustling feathers.
Hard cut to another part of the woods. A low rumble is softly ignored in the background of a relatively quiet scene. The chicken comes flying and fluttering through the scene. The child, in short chase, comes galloping through the scene. We empathise with the chicken's flight to escape her hunter, the fear of impending death animating her feathers in furious action, letting out instinctual clucks of distress and pandemonium. As the wiley child made for a running grab, only narrowly evaded.
But as we gain a closer look at the child as the two sprint through the winding corridors of the fruit laden jungle, we do not meet the gritty and hungry look of the predator we expected. There is determination, nonetheless, in her eyes, but the tinge is rather one of urgency, or perhaps even distress. In fact, the presence of a bigger presence in pursuit behind the child becomes obvious, things might not be as they seem. Indded, A raggedly clad man powerfully makes his pursuit, he is far behind the girl and the chicken, but it is clear that he will innevitably converge on them. He makes his way through the thickness with such vigor that it is a shock to see that he bears a look of desperate emergency, dwarfing that of the girl and the chicken.
"Not without Tink" The girl yells back with despair, against the background noise which has by now risen to loud roar. She acquires and cradles the hysterical chicken, then instantly reversing direction. The scene becomes less and less transparent as smoke begins to fill our view and the roar and crackle are deafening in our ears. The man intercepts and sweeps up the child, much in the same way she scooped up the chicken which she now holds ever closer.
"I didn't want to let this little one go"
The three arrive at a large circular clearing, with a calmly milling crowd of animals, including many humans. The camera pans out, following a messenger bird which streaks up from amidst the crowd. As we climb we see the dense green canopy is dotted with these circular clearings of various sizes randomly yet constantly spaced, and the front of a bushfire lazily works its way in a globulous manner about the screen.
