What We Look For

December 23rd 2007 03:59
Hey,
Firstly, I'm really sorry for the length in between these types of blogs. Many things have occurred and it has been a little overwhelming to find a significant amount of time in writing these blogs. At the same time, I've been having strange periods of writer's block. Usually, I like to do song writing as well however that has been hampered lately due to not having a clear and creative mind. Perhaps it's linked to current circumstances. Nothing terribly bad ladies and gentlemen, just extroadinarily occupied!!

In some ways, it leads into the article that I'm composing today. What do we look for? Obviously a fair few things come to mind quickly. Maybe financial reward through earning a very successful job. Perhaps it could be obtained by chance? A strong and loving family? A group of people who you can always turn to and they will put their heart and soul into helping you overcome your difficulties. A dream career? Many people strive for it.

For example, look at Australian Idol or any music talent show for that matter. While there are numerous people who are simply attempting to earn 15 seconds of fame (if they are lucky), others place everything on the line, their job, finance, relationships and even their self-identity. What if they don't make it? Who will they be as a person if they fail? Unfortunately talent shows like Australian Idol have the potential to damage a person on the inside immensely. At least if they do make it, it would be the greatest possible thing that could happen to them.

Other people may decide that what they are looking for in life is love. Where that love comes from could be irrelevant to them. For others, it would be important that love came from somebody that they would want to spend the rest of their time with. True qualities of compassion, generosity, caring, listening and supporting are starting to be diminished from relationships, especially in the younger ages as is it now becoming much more determined on whether people like each other by their physical appearance.

I'm not saying it is a bad thing necessarily. After all, it would be wonderful if the person we could fall in love with was beautiful. Here's a hypothesis though. What if a person you knew, liked you however was lacking in the physical appearance deapartment however posesses the most amazing personality that could ever be assembled. Would you decide to go for that person? Sometimes not everyone comes perfectly. Actually, no-one comes perfect although I love to believe that some people I know are perfect. To others, that could be as far from the truth as the distance between Latvia and Samoa. However, for some people, they would honestly believe that they are indeed their perfect person.

People need to understand though that the human race is the most complex species out of all. We are so ambitious in wanting what we desire. On a personal level, I desire many things at the moment. The key though to earning it all is by working for it; doing the things that are necessary in achieving that goal. Two of my main goals is to transfer universities by the end of 2008 (1st year is 2008) and by having casual employment in the retail industry in order for a resume to look stronger. However, work has to be done so that those goals can be achieved. It is what mainly prevents all of us from accomplishing great feats, the work that is neccessary to undergo.

Overall, if people want to work hard, generally for the most part, they will achieve what they want. People need to not be afraid in striving for their goals. They need to be committed to the requirements that are neccessary to achieve those goals. Other factors come into play however if the basics of how to acquire what we want are ticked off, then it is a great start into achieving it all. Note that the word "acquire" isn't in a materialistic sense. It could be in a spiritual and emotional sense as well. Good luck with achieving your goals. Hopefully you will be able to completely enjoy them when they come to you!!! Take care!

The Good Samaritan

November 14th 2007 02:22
Hello again!
A warm welcome to everyone! Compared to yesterday's column, the one that I'm composing as of now is in a different category altogether. Hopefully though, it will be an entertaining read so let's start!!

As an audience, are you aware of the tale of "The Good Samaritan"? Out of all of the scriptural passages in the Chrisitianity Bible, it is one of the most known Biblical references that Christians would know. Featured in the New Testament, The Good Samaritan portrays an individual who is struggling in their hour of need. Numerous people would walk past the individual over a period of time without even taking concerning for his wellbeing. Some people didn't even bother to notice that there was an person who was in dire circumstances.

Young children are usually aware of the Biblical reference so they know what happens next. A man, dubbed as "The Good Samaritan" comes to the individual and assists them in every way that is possible. The individual is able to recover and was eternally grateful for the act of generosity that "the Good Samartian" did. It is these self-less acts of kindness that makes the world a better place.

In a society like today in where acts of individualism is being represented in its greatest numbers yet, we are becoming so personalised with our own daily requirements that we are falling negligient to others when they are in trouble. I have been personally susceptible to that and I know from a personal perspective, that a guilty conscious always resonates from it.

Sometimes, it may be considered a good idea if the story of "The Good Samaritan" was told to an older and more broader audience. It would help teach people about the need for morals. Moral decision making is a frequent opportunity to show whether we can live our lives as "good people". When I'm writing the phrase "good people", I don't mean it to establish from a religious perspective only. Good moral judgement should not be left to just the religious communities and their congregation. For those people who are against religion or even have their own vendetta with religion, at the very least, they should have an understanding of moral and immoral decisions.

How does one become "The Good Samaritan?" There is one answer to the question. In order to be "The Good Samaritan", an ideal beginning would be to avoid making moral decisions that is only based upon yourself. For example, if you are running late to an appointment however you see an elderly person needing assistance with moving their groceries to a location, consider being in their perspective. Imagine being about 75 years of age and lacking the mobility and control that you may have once relished in your 20s and 30s. It would be very distraught if they knew that no-one was going to help them if they needed so.

Due to how much pressure is placed on society to be successful today, our thoughts are being manipulated with words such as "success", "failure", "wealth" and "status". While we haven't lost touch with words such as "compassion", "generosity" and "kindness", they are certainly fading away from our own lives. If we can commit one act of kindness today, not only will it be good for the community as a whole, it will be a personal achievement that would make it very difficult for the smile to be wiped off our face. Please feel free to share your opinions. Hope to write once more sometime very soon! Take care!

The Art of A Performer

November 13th 2007 02:11
Hey,
Firstly, welcome from all around the globe to the first official blog on Orble that I am writing as of right now. Hopefully you can be attracted to what I'm thinking of at the moment due to human's desire in wanting to be consistently entertained. Whether the source of entertainment will be provided from my blog or others, at least you are being entertained.

Now, I want you to try and remember the good old days of the 1970s. I'm a young writer so I wasn't around in the 1970s. However I'm hoping that there is a demographic reading this that can empathise. Take a slow breath and re-capture yourself with the realms of modern society today. Spot any differences? Well, let's just name a few. Multi-national and Trans-national corporations feature much more prominantly in a global society, political leaders are being constantly recycled in search of finding the ideal one and then, there is the art of a performer.

The art of a performer is a reference to a musician. The outlet for musical products was much more diverse in the 1970s than it is perhaps today. In today's society, we are all being succombed to homogenous music that to our culture, is perceived to be the "in" thing at the time. However, one aspect that stays consistent is the art of how a performer is to be successful in the industry. Let's review back to the 1970s.

In the 1970s, there used to be many tales of doing "the hard yards" as those industry experts would like to claim. Bands, solo musicians and groups would play in small venues, in obscure areas to hostile audiences that had the capacity to cause not only damage to a potential musical career, however to your self-esteem. Fast-forward to today's society.

Today's society presents musicians with a much more accessible outlet of achieving success in the very intensive music industry. For example, the development of reality television shows manipulating our minds with the thought of being a instant hit musician has compelled the general public to try their go at being the next musician. While the process is fast-tracked, it is still a very dynamic atmosphere in where careers can be made or broken at the speed of a train flashing by your eyes.

Has the art of a performer actually changed since the 1970s? In my opinion, the answer is no. To be successful, there are still necessary elements of charisma, external physical looks and personality that are analysed to see whether these everyday people could become the next big-thing musician to hit our shores. All that has changed is the outlets that are provided if one chooses to head down the path of being a successful musician. There is no easy and quick way to being a musician. Essentially, the true aspects are developed from an early age and after many years of progress, they blossom and become the front-page stories that everybody wants to read. Look at Madonna for example. She had the qualities to be a highly successful musician from a very early age. It only just needed time before contemporary audiences realised that she had the characteristics to be a star.

Thankyou very much. Hopefully you have a had a good time and please feel free to share any comments that you wish. Take care!
