Because I Said So....

Rocks: er... not a hang of a lot
Sucks: the fact that Moore's character can stand up for herself against everyone except when it counts
Le Critique says: How's this for an idea... Don't watch this movie... because I said so!
It's not often you watch a movie where the title is repeated ad nausea to the point where your love for Diane Keaton is tested beyond human capacity. Her character is annoying, badly written and, frankly, unbelievable. I thought Mz Keaton was slightly more discerning...
The rest of the cast, I can understand. I get it. I know why they took the roles - because this is what they do. They take crummy roles in bad chick flicks because they're just not really good enough to do much else but Diane! I'm astounded.
She plays one of "those" types of mothers. The type who worries that her youngest, unmarried, walking into walls all the time daughter (played by Moore) is going to end up like her mother, turning 60 and alone! But she takes it to a new, as I said unbelievable level.
I said I was walking if Mandy Moore started singing and I'm a gal of her word. So I can't tell you how it actually ended but I'll put a year's salary on Moore ending up with the dude her mother didn't want her to end up with because it's just that American.
