An intersting story that happend in Uni
April 2nd 2008 04:23
Ok, I had a presentation at uni two week ago and my presentation partner suddenly had to bail on me. But I bomb the presentation anyway. YES!!!

Ok anyway, I better tell the whole story from the beginning. (Why do I always start telling the story from the ending, anyway?)
Ok, so here is the whole story. Two weeks ago was my first uni tutorial in the subject of “Multimedia theories.” We had to do a presentation for this subject, within our tutorial and it count towards our mark. Any way, I love presentation. If there is anything that I know I can totally Asss, it is presentation. I love it. I mean, I know presentation has the tendency of freaking some people out, but for me it is a completely piece of cake. Sometime I wish my major assessments can be presentations. That will be so mad.
Anyway, in my first class, the teacher talked about the subject excitedly and forgot that he suppose to allocate the presentation group in our first tutorial. By the time it was one o’clock in the afternoon the class is over and everybody was packing up their books and was preparing to leave and nobody remind anybody about the presentation group.
“Hey, aren’t we supposed to be allocating our presentation group today?” I asked the girl that was sitting next to me. (Apparently, I don’t know anybody within that class.)
I don’t know. Maybe you should ask him (she was referring to the teacher.)” she said. Her name is Nichole by the way. When did she tell me her name anyway? That is funny, I don’t remember she telling me her name. Wow…I must have telepathic power, cool.
just kidding.
Anyway, the teacher was still in the room. He just packed up all of his stuff and was about to leave.
“Excuse me, when are we suppose to start getting our presentation group?” I asked.
Dame!” the teacher was quick to response. Yeah, now it is obvious that he forgot. He wants to quickly tell the rest of the class about it. Honestly, there is really no point, because half the class was already gone.
“Can I take next week?” I quickly said. (We are supposed to have one or two person doing a presentation on a topic each week.)
I love been the first to do presentations. Firstly because, you get mark easier and secondly it is always nice to get it out of the way earlier. Since most people don’t like to do their presentation in the first few weeks, it is usually not too hard for me to get the spot I want.
“You have it all work out haven’t you?” the teacher joked “This is a good plan.” He laughed.
“Are we supposed to do it as individuals or as a group?” I asked
“Oh, you can do it either way.” The teacher said
Nichole was still standing next to me.
“Hey, Nichole wants to do week two together?” I turned to Nichole and said right away.
“I don’t know…I…” I cut her off before she could finish.
“Come on, look there are two readings in week two, we can do one reading each. Trust me. This is the best way to do a presentation.” I quickly said
“I don’t know. I just don’t want to have a bunch of work the first week back at uni.” Nichole said
Come on, you get it out of the way earlier and plus I am the champ in presentation. I totally bomb it every single time, I do a presentation. If you stick with me, I guarantee that you are going to get a straight A” I said
“And you usually get mark easier if you do it in the first week.” The teacher said
“Yeah come on, trust me. I bomb it every single time.” I said
“Mmm…oh…ok…well…alright I’ll have a look at the reading for week two and if I like it I’ll do it.” Nichole said and then she turns to the teacher “I’ll send you an email if I decide to do it.” She said.
Nichole and I walked out of the class room together.
“Trust me. I bomb it every single time. You’ll be fine if you stick with me.” I said as we walked out.
“I am looking forward to you guy’s presentation.” The teacher yelled to us from behind. He was still tidying up his stuff before leaving.
“Yeah, no pressure.” Nichole joked.
“Trust me. You’ll be fine with me. I am great at this thing. You know there was once I only prepare my entire presentation the night before and I still got distinguish. There is once I totally forgot about it and I only prepare for it on the train, two hours before the presentation and I still got a credit.” I said
Nichole laugh “Look I’ll have a look at it and I’ll give you my reply, ok?” she said
Fair enough. I smiled. “Straight A” I yelled as we parted.
After I completed all my class that day, I went to the library to prepare for the presentation. The first reading was really hard to understand. Later onwards, I went to the uni’s computer lab to watch “Power Rangers” on U tube.
Then I received a text message from Nichole. Oh yes, I gave her my mobile number.
“I’ll do the assignment with you. Let’s meet on campus Library, on Monday? Nichole” the text message wrote.
I gave Nichole a telephone call right away. She picked up the phone
“Hey Nichole, so you are in.” I laughed.
“Yeah, can let’s meet on Monday, is that ok with you?” Nichole said
“Yeah sure no worries, look Nichole, I have already started working on the first reading. So is it ok that, I’ll be presenting on the first reading and you’ll present the second reading” I said. (Hey trust me, this is the best way to do a group assignment, split the work up and everybody goes home and does their part. This way, we each only have a bit to do. Therefore we can do a great job within it.)
“Ok, but in that case can we meet on Tuesday. I don’t want to meet on Wednesday, because I don’t like leaving everything to the last minute.” Nichole said
“Yeah, sure no worry.” I said
I spend the next few days preparing for the presentation, apparently the writing of this article is extremely blurry and it was a big pain in the butt to understand what the hell this guy is on about. I read through it a few times, before I start preparing for everything. It took me three days to prepare for the presentation. On Monday night, I was all done and I was preparing to meet Nichole tomorrow. Then she sends me another text.
“I’m sorry to do this to you. I’ve got a bad bug and haven’t been able to do any work. I won’t be able to do the presentation with u, I’m just way too sick.” It wrote
I didn’t really know how sick Nichole was and because I didn’t read through the SMS carefully, at first I thought she was saying her computer is rack.
I gave Nichole a call. Nichole picked up the phone. “Hey, what are you doing to me man? You are bailing on me.” I said
“Yeah, I am really sorry.” She started explaining why she couldn’t do the presentation
Wow she is really sick. I can hear it from her voice and she was coughing constantly.
“Like, I couldn’t even stand up for too long, without getting dizzy.” Nichole said. Well, ok this is serious.
“So what do you want to do about it? We do it the week after? There is a very good chance that the teacher will allow us to do that if you got a doctor certificate” I said.
“I don’t know.” Nichole said
Look, just writes him an email and see what he says, because I don’t have his email. You still need to let him know about it, because you already say you are going to do it this week. If you just bail without any explanation, you’ll definitely get a fail.” I said
“I’ll write him an email and see what he says we should do, but I guess the chance is that, we will either be able to defer to next week. Or otherwise we just have to do our own part within different week.” Nichole said
“Well, I am still going start looking at the second reading, just in case.” I said
“No, he won’t make you do both reading.” Nichole said
“Hopefully, look you just take care of that cold ok? Send him that email and make sure you take good care of your cold ok?” I said
“Ok,” she replied.
“And drink plenty of water, ok? And only drink warm water, cold water usually makes you even sicker and I mean drink a lot. Normally, when I get sick I drink at least 3 liter of water per day. I am telling you, drink a lot.” I said.
“Thanks” she laughed.
Well, I did the presentation all by myself and I totally bomb it anyway.
One week after the presentation. (To be more precise, it is today.) Nichole came back to class. She is feeling all well now. She actually came in a little bit late. For a second, I thought she was so sick that she is going to miss another class and I was about to ask all you guys to prey for her. But just a few second before class started she came in all healthy.
The teacher came in a little bit late. We cracked a few jokes, about how I bomb the presentation completely and if she had stuck with me, she would have gotten an “A”.
"Hey, I was really sick you know? I..." I cut off Nichole's sentence again
"That's ok, I believe you. I was just kidding around" I said
After class, Nichole had to be assigned a new week for her presentation.
“This class seems to be all doing great presentations. Even when their partner bailed on them” the teacher joked
“Hey, I had xxxxxxxx (a disease name, I can’t even pronounce.)” Nichole said, she was just kidding around as well.
“A…what…ok, I am pretty crap with biology, but it seem kind of serious as well. Any way, good to have you back Nichole” I joked, before leaving the room.
Ok anyway, I better tell the whole story from the beginning. (Why do I always start telling the story from the ending, anyway?)
