I get questions about honeymoons everyday. Just two days ago a guy calls the shop asking on prices for honeymoon ideas - for the end of this month - obviously left it a little too late but still, there were options for him to take.
He had no idea where he wanted to go on a honeymoon, and he wanted me to tell him - well where would you like to see, what would you like to do? I asked. It'll have to be somewhere nice I guess. He said.
He asked me: Where would YOU like to go on your honeymoon.
I answered my standard reply: I'd like to backpack around the world.
Haha he laughed. Ok, let's be a little realistic on the time frame here. He only has a week of holidays to take.
So I suggested the usual places - Cook Islands, Fiji, Bali, Phuket etc. He was keen on Cook Islands so I got him a quote. It was going to cost a total of $6000 for both of them for a week there I said. He left it too late and there weren't cheap seats left on the flights.
Why would you leave planning your honeymoon to the last minute was the question. Maybe he simply forgot.
A friend of mine who recently just got married on the other hand, is already planning the honeymoon. They are getting married next May, so I have already been looking into prices for them. She wants an Australian honeymoon and Port Douglas is sliding on top of the list. The Peppers Bale Resort looks absolutely stunning but at $1200 a night ummm maybe not. However knowing that she is already planning makes me wonder what makes someone plan so much a head of time, and some people seem to like last minute planning and then complain how much it's going to cost them?
Well, knowing that I am not getting married until 2010 I do know what I would like for my honeymoon. I would like to take half a year off and just go around the world.

In a quiet spot just under the Roseville bridge is a small restaurant hideaway. It's called Echo on the Marina and is right in the heart of the beautiful Echo Point Park in Roseville looking right out to middle harbour.
This small but cosy cafe restaurant is accessible by car, boat and seaplane if you feel like it and is a little different to the normal waterfront dining. Unlike the rowdy beachside or harbour side waterfronts, dining here is like retreating away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney, and although only around 5 mins away from the busy Chatswood, it still feels as relaxing as ever.
The menu is modern Australian and has seafood and meat varieties to suit all tastes. They all have recommended wines to match as well. The Grilled sirloin steak is tender and juicy and the friendly staff made our visit even more pleasant.
The restaurant's location makes it convenient for a short walk into the park's trails, and limited street parking is available.
Echo on the Marina is open for breakfast and lunch only and reservations recommended.

I have applied for many, many different jobs. And fortunately enough, everytime I am up for a new job, I almost always find what I want. However this is not to say that I never get rejected. In fact, I probably have been rejected more times than I actually got the job, although I think I learned a lot more about the experience from the rejections which really helped me find my next job.
Learning how to learn from the rejections will improve your job searching skills than any classroom and forums can teach you. In the beginning I just thought it's because I am just not good enough, that there are others who had more experience in the field to compete with. So I just gave up. But as I grew a lot older I started asking those employers who end up rejecting me, why I didn't get the job. You'll find the answers sometimes doesn't come down to experience or education, and there may be other reasons that you can actually improve on.
Here are the top reasons why employers may decide not to hire someone.
Reason number 1: We hired someone with more experience in the field than you.
Fair enough. If that's the real reason, then look at their job ad closer and make sure next time you apply for a job, you fit in the exact qualifications and experience they require.
Reason number 2: We just didn't think you were suitable for this job.
If the person on the phone is willing to chat a little more, ask them why. There can be many reasons behind this: it could be your attitude, your attire, your experience and qualifications, your personality or your people skills. Sometimes they are willing to tell you exactly what it is so you can improve on it next time. You just have to ask.
Reason number 3: You are over qualified
The exactly opposite of the first reason, I've had this many times. The first time I applied for Flight Centre (and they rejected me) they felt I was over qualified. The fact that you may have more under your belt than they are willing to take can be a threat to the position. They are afraid you'll get bored easily, or that you'll want to advance up the next level in the role faster than themselves. Take this as a compliment. Some employers think by hiring you they are stopping you from doing what you really can do.
In this case - if you really really really wanted the job (like me with Flight Centre this time round) - then play down your qualifications a little. Otherwise, try for a bigger role that may suit your qualifications better. You'd be surprised where you can take yourself if you only aim for it.
By analysing the reasons and knowing exactly what it is you need to improve on, you are sure to be more prepared for your next application and hence more likely to get the job.
Good luck!

Just within the past couple of weeks there has been an increase in people coming in to ask about journeys to South America. Indeed tourism in South America is booming as we have all got sick and tired of going to Europe all the time, and we all yearn for something different - very different.

My parents have just been up in Coffs Harbour to visit over the weekend. On my rarely got proper weekends I actually feel like I need another weekend to get over it.
So I've placed Mum and Dad in a nice resort on the beachside, so they can enjoy being pampered with a good bed and nice ocean sounds and a nice seaview. They also did expect me to be driving them around, showing them all sorts of places so I did

Have you ever wondered why some people, who may have been top of the class and knew everything the text book had to say, struggle to get a promotion... compared to some others, often those seen out and about school activities and never seen studying, who only just made it to graduation, but some how able to excel in their jobs and end up doing better in their career?
Sometimes it take more than just knowing technical or professional stuff. Soft skills that generally cannot be taught such as organisation skills, people relationship skills and communication skills are also important for an emploer when considering their candidates for promotion and hiring

Those of you who have subscribed to Air Asia marketing would have known that on Monday night they started their 1million free seats campaign and immediately the seats will selling fast. All you had to do was find a date with a flight that flew for free, and all you pay is the taxes.
Sorry, this is not going to be much of a debate for the blog than just a little expression of excitment. I have successfully found and booked some free seats for myself and Will to go to Malaysia for less than AU$500 per person. WOW

Thought I'd share some more photos of Huaran and surrounds. As mentioned in the previous post, Huaran is a small village community in need of visitors to generate local income. We've had hte previledge to visit Cancha Cancha, another community three hours trek from Huaran up the mountain. We have nothing like it in Australia and besides meeting the people and play with the children, the scenery that we were treated to on the journey was just as unforgetable.

Its not just comedy - these things happen. One minute you are lining up at the photocopier, waiting for the previous person to finish their printing. You get there and there is a big paper jam that the last person didn't bother to fix. It was up to you. You've been waiting for 30 mins and this is what you get?? You chuck the paper around, and try to clear the paper jam. In the end, you start to bash the machine and a bunch of people are at the door wondering what this lunatic is going to do next.
Rages can come in different variations at the work place. It can be frustration about the slowness of a task being done (including the loading of a website) - it can directed at certain people in the office that simply just drive you nuts - or it can be the result of little things piling up, just waiting to explode

It's been pretty stressful but thanks to Will life is still pretty easy with him cooking and cleaning the house for us most of the time, leaving me having to only concentrate on getting us through financially.
However with a much lower salary now I am missing out on a lot of things I used to be able to do, such as visit the chiropractor once a month to release all my tense muscls and adjust my badly sat on bones, as well as getting my favourite Thai massage done
