The Black Sheep Chronicles - by D. Armenta

Americans: right now we are living through History. How much do you know ?

We're all gonna be famous forever in History books.

It's true; the precedents and laws (not very many of them good for us) that G.W. Bush and the U.S. government have set in the past 8 years regarding:

-citizen's rights

-voter rights and vote counting procedures

-economic accountability (or, Who pays the tab this time?)

-U.S. foreign policy

-Constitutional rights

- Foreign and domestic trade policies

-Availability of government information/procedures/propos ed laws to the voters

-plus a whole hornet's nest of other indignities these past 2 terms of the presidency will be recorded in history books for posterity.

We've managed to outdo ourselves this time , matching or exceeding our previous troubles like the Great Depression, Watergate, the Vietnam war, the attack on Pearl Harbor, Congressional scandals, institutions that preyed upon the poor during the Depression, mishandling of government funds, the Cold War...the list goes on ad infinitum.

That's right, fellow Americans! We are, right now as we speak, living the old Chinese curse: we are living in interesting times.

Every one of us who is 18 or older by early November, 2008 is a part of this little chunk of American history. How much do we know about our leadership, our rights, our laws? When our kids or grandkids come home from History class years from now and ask us about this time period, what will we be able to tell them?

Here's a quick little poll; without Googling or otherwise researching, please answer the following questions. Answers should be based upon B]facts[/B], not opinions. Good Luck.

1) What is Sen. Barack Obama's step-by-step solution(s) to raise money to cover our failing economy, and where will that money come from? What is Sen. McCain's solution?

2) What is Sen. John McCain's long-term plan for U.S. troops in the Middle East? What is Sen. Obama's long-term plan?

3) How many candidates for president do we have this year (who will be on our ballots)?

4) How in hell did G.W. Bush get re-elected in 2000?

5) Where did third-party presidential candidate Ralph Nader come from, and what is his background?

6) Will Sen. McCain or Sen. Obama get rid of the nefarious Patriot Act if elected president?

7) True or False: if we want to, we can impeach G.W. Bush right now.

**Please try to keep your answers short, to the point, and fact-based. Thanks for playing!

At least one person is breaking away from the vicious cycle of hero worship and mud slinging.

Neither candidate seems to say much more that sound bites. Vaguely they both indicate that they do not like GWB on several points.

However neither seems to have a proper understanding of the world outside of the USA.

Mc Cain want to win in Iraq so that the USA can save face.
Obama wants to bomb West Pakistan to get the Taliban.

Both policies are pure madness from my viewpoint.

a- No one is going to walk away from Iraq looking like the greatest force for good in the world. That sort of rhetoric insults every other nation on Earth.
b- Pakistan has the USA over barrel when it comes to Afghanistan. Obama should have done a little homework before he shot off his mouth.

On the economic front neither side has an answer. I do see that the USA will have to regulate their banking industry to prevent this meltdown from recurring. Other than that who ever wins the election also wins the bad economy. A poison chalice if ever there was one.

I do see that the economic melt down will favor Obama's chance at winning.
