text etiquette

Nowadays texting has become so popular. We do it in the car, on an airplane, from our beds and even from the bathroom. Some cannot even go a day without texting everyone in their phone with what used to be called chain letters and nonsense texts that simply say, "What's Up?" I am not saying that you should text 140 words each time that you click send, but the one word question and answer texts just plain suck. Say you get one that says HI, then you say Hi. Text done, but no the sender had an alternate plan. They want to chat. Why not pick up the phone and do that. I know it is cliche and very 80's, but it is nice to here someone's voice from time to time, isn't it?
