Amare makes his season debut
January 2nd 2013 19:14
Amare Stoudemire came off the bench last night and walk to the scorer's table and witnessed an ovation across Madison Square Garden from Knicks fans as he entered his first game of the season. Stoudemire had surgery on Oct. 31 to clean up tissue in his left knee.
It was clear Amare was rusty on the offensive end. Shooting 3 for 8 from the floor, he got going with the help of some pick and roll play with the guards. It was expected that he would be rusty, that was not a big concern for a star like Amare. Coach Woodson is more concerned with the lack of defensive awareness Amare showed last night as he missed several defensive assignments. The Knicks fell short and lost to the Portland Trail Blazers despite Carmelo Anthony's 45 point game.
Coach Woodson is positive that he will get Amare involved in the team's defensive strategies, but the question the fans are curious about is will Melo and Amare be able to coexist.
