High School

High School, this form of education is so popular people all around the world write songs about it and make movies that revolve around it. One thing that is obvious in high schools are sterio types. When you go to high school, you tend to catagorize people into different groups mainly according to their appearance. Funny how we care so much on our own catagory, trying to be like a certain group or avoiding certain people. But everyone is in the same boat, really. We go to high school, make friends with people similar to ourselves and try not to become someone we arent. You're not truely happy until your satisfied with your reputation, which is hard to uphold. Like I said, people make moves and write books about this stuff. Funny, I havent seen a movie about good academics and turning in home work on time.

Cow Showing

Today when I checked my comments, someone said they didn't know what cow showing was. Cow showing is one of my hobbies and it suprises me that a lot of people dont know what it is. It starts with the 4H program. There are local 4H clubs around the country that are for kids from the ages of 9-18. When you are in a club, you can be enrolled in different activites such as cooking, sewing, rocketry, archery, shooting, photography, and showing. You can show many different kinds of animals such as cows, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits, and dogs. I show a cow and basically what I do is I train my cow to walk with a halter on her head (like a leash, because I am controling the halter) and I train her to stop and set up her feet to look a certain way. Then, I show her at the county fair. First, I compete in the showmanship competion against kids my age. The judge has us walk around the arena with our animal and looks for the person who has the most control over thier animal and has trained them correctly. This year I placed 4th in the senior division. I usually place high in my showmanship classes because I start training my animals months before the fair. It is not easy training an animal, cows especially. I have an advantage because I live on a dairy, so I can work with my animal every day. Some kids thing training is easy, but thats because their parents do it for them!!! I am 14 and I have been doing it myself since I was 9. So, as you can tell, it takes a lot of hard work to train an animal. Cow showing is a well known activity. I'm ging to a summer camp for it this friday at Cal Poly and theres a huge show in Winsconsin every year when people all around the world come to show cows. What do you think about showing?
