Next Season's Fashion - ADDITION!

June 18th 2009 01:15
Having re-read my last post, HOW ON EARTH could I have forgotten possibly the greatest improvement on a worn out fashion concept to hit 2009?

We are talking graphic print leggings. Louis Vuitton's graffitti campaign has a super pair, and the high street is going mental for this trend too. No longer are you restricted to plain black leggings and "jeggings" (denim leggings, bridging the gap between leggings and trousers forever), you now have limitless options in the leg department.

Why not take the acid wash trend one step further and pioneer a pair of acid wash leggings? Let the leggings be to focal element of your outfit; keep the top simple and jewellery plain, and experiment with textures and colours down below. Understand this trend now, and you'll be lauging all the way to spring/summer 2010!!

Who am I to tell you what's hot and what's not in the world of fashion? I have just come across a million and one blog pages alleging to do just this, but I remain skeptical. Where are they getting their information from? Which sources inform them?

Working for a fashion magazine, allows me (I hope) at least minimal creditentials in this department. And so allow me to take you on a short trip through the designer-must-haves of the second, the general concept behind it, and a high-street alternative. Sound too good to be true? Pray continue...

5) ACID WASH JEANS. Balmain conquered this trend effortlessly, but a pair of their beautiful denim pieces are ultimately not woth dreaming about, as they hold an unatainable price. Distressed denim is going to be huge, think cowboy rips and home-made holes. Try next season topshop for a great pair under £40.

4) CROPPED TOPS. No, we're not talking about the embarassing crop top you wear when you first start secondary school as you have no physical need for a bra, but more Coachella-esque off-duty model. Yes a flat stomach is mandatory, but if you've got it, flaunt it! Asos have some good'uns, size 8's go get 'em asap.

3) SHOULDER PADS. First, don't be alarmed, we are NOT talking about dodgy 70's suits. Balmain and Gareth Pugh worked this trend beautifully, and last season's Luella tweed jacket a-la shoulder pad remains one of my fav wardrobe staples. You might have to go designer for this one, but it's worth it!

2) STATEMENT JEWELLERY. www.outnet.com has become my salvation due to it's hugely reduced designer staples. Go for a Chloe beaded necklace, or a Kenneth Jay Lane bit of gold. Try Accessorize for necklaces, but I'd avoid non 925 rings from the high-street, as after about 10 minutes of wearing it you will be left with a very permanent green ring where the ring once was!

1) TRIBAL HEELS. two words, Louis Vuitton. Ive been maintaining this for months, and finally people are realising that tribal heels are the light at the end of the tunnel. If £1500 is too much for you, try Aldo for tribal flats, beaauutiffulll.

FIDM shot to fame through the possibly famewhoring attendance of a certain "LC" of The Hills fame. Or did it? Upon further research (I wont lie, I am in talks to transfer there for a semester) it transpires that FIDM boasts alumini of Monique Lhuilleur quality. Monique Lhuilleure!! We're talking £10,000 wedding dresses, celebrity clients and hit runway shows. And to think, it all began back in 1989 with her attending FIDM.

Could my life potentially flip 180 and end up facing the high road, the road the Smashbox Studios and LA Fashion Week? Moreover, could a seemingly average student clinch the muchly coveted Young Hollywood lifestyle in one simple, painfree move?

Undecided I may be, but one thing is certain. Oscar de la Renta did NOT graduate from Sussex University!

Late-night soul searching..

Now it may be true to say (as an industry insider..) that women spend, possibly FAR too much of their disposable income on shoes. In fact, shoes, in this context, could be replaced with any accessory, be it the 2.55 Chanel quilted handbag ($2000 but oh so worth it) creme du la mer face cream (kate moss's fav, ill have you know) or my latest lust-worthy crush....

...the Louis Vuitton tribal heel. [ in unison now, ahhhhh

Come one, come all...

Hello hello vitrual aquaintances, and at risk of sounding strangely creepy, please please please "follow" my online endeavours (to pay homage to twitter!)

Having come across this wonderful website all of 5 minutes ago I am slightly bemused as to what I should aim my content at...truth be told I am a Media student, and a Fashion Intern at a leading glossy magazine, so naturally one would presume the do's and don'ts of anna wintour would be my most exciting topic of conversation to offer
