AFL Training for the afterlife

My creative dreaming or lucid dreams are becoming more common, but I am having problems adapting to this strange dream world. I once thought that as soon as I had mastered the art of lucid dreaming (Knowing that you are dreaming) that I would be able to have some wonderful experiences like flying with the birds, beating Usain Bolt in the 100 meters and meeting Tiger Woods. None of this has eventuauted and I am finding that although I know I am dreaming I am still not very much in control of what happens.
I am currently reading a book all about creative dreamin hoping that it will give some tips and help me on my way to being in full control when ever a dream occurs. In the book it talks about how other religions percive this typ of dreaming. It says that both Hindu's and BUddhists percieve creative dreaming as training for the undrstanding of death and the afterlife.
If this is the case can someone please tell me why my dream last night consisted of nothing but AFL. I knew I was dreaming and being a massive soccer fan I have always thought that AFL was easier to play. So when I saw a game happening on a far field I thought ,I am dreaming I can go and play and do some magical things with that ball, I tried to a kick so many goals but every time I hit the post. The ball was magnatised to the thing. I even tried turning the AFL ball in to a soccer one, which worked, but when this ball hit the post too I awoke with pure frustration.
So can someone please tell me how this is my training for the afterlife.
