2009 Predictions!

December 30th 2008 10:39
Fremantle:
Position: 15th - Fremantle has lost alot of ground the last few years. A club that was meant to be in real finals contention and on the verge of a grand final birth for the first time in thier life as an AFL licensed team, they have been forgotten as they sunk to lower grounds in the last 2 years then almost any other club. They've gone from an ageing list, to a young and very inexperienced team within 12 months but they have found some great young talent in Palmer, Ibbotson and mayne and that will only get stronger and more better as they mature more every year and they will find more youngsters aswell. Its still a long way to go for the men in purple.

Best and Fairest Winner: Matthew Pavlich - Its hard to see anyone else taking the best player award of this bloke. As captain, team MVP, and their main avenue to goal he is the best thing this club has to offer to their fans and to the AFL as the rest of the team mostly struggles to keep up. Whilst the list gets younger an more inexpireienced Pavlich's influence to the club gets bigger and tougher but he is still Fremantle fc's best player and we all know that.

Leading Goalkicker: Matthew Pavlich - Once again he is the clubs best player and best avenue to goal as proved time and time again. Even as the club gets lower on the ladder he still manages to find the middle of the big sticks. In the last 2 years the club has finished 4th last and third last but pavlich has kicked more then 60 goals in both seasons (finishing runner up in the coleman medal on 70 goals in 2007) and numerous all-australians. At just 27 he doesnt even look like letting up just yet.

Best New Talent: Calncee Pearce - Im going with a wildcard here but i firmly believe this guy can be a real big thing for the club hat is dubbed too old, slow and uncompetitive in the middle and back half area. Pearce is a strong, quick, silky smooth half back flank or winger who had good skills and anticipation. He is just what the dockers need as midlfielder or running half back to can read the play well and play loose. On his day he could be a 20 possession player with almost 15 of those could be uncontested so a good quality outsider is just what they need.

Fallout Player 09: Chris Tarrent - I reckon he is only one more year away falling out of grace with fremantle. He seems to hav lost his significantly when it comes to kicking goals or even playing a good quality game. He needs to find the footy and jus relax and play the game then the rest will click into gear and it will all work out, if this doesnt happen he could find himself the next fremantle player either forced into retirement ot without a club to play him.
He needs to find his feet again

2009 Predictions!

Melbourne
Position at end of season: 16th - They stil have ALOT to do when it comes to developing these so called youngsters and new draftees before they can even think of coming back into finals contention. While they may be on their up the dees they have to start bloding the newebies and youngsters and that may mean making some harsh decisions on the older or middle aged players. Then they need to decide which ones to play consistantly and then pick out which ones to hold onto and which ones to delist or trade. Then in a few years after that they should be back on track and thinking about finals. Overall it should be another 3-4 years around this end of the table.

Best an Fairest winer: Nathan Jones - He has the potential but he stil needs to add that extra dimension to his game and get some consistecy into his game aswell. He can win his own ball and has the skills to go with it and he could develop into a Sam Mitchell type figure in a side trying to get on its way up.

Leading Goalkicker: Russel Robertson - He maybe on the other side of his career now but there is no doubting Russel Robertsons ability as a forward. He is stil the dees main avenue to goal now that neitz is gone and there is no reason why he cant return to his best goal wise.

Best New Talent: Jack watts - Anyone could've guessed it but im seriousely considering that Watts could be the next big thing for the dees if they play him earlier enough in the season. If he can get the pace and physicallity of the game quick enough early in the year he could be a big part of meblourne in 2009.

Fallout player 09: Brad Miller - He needs a big year this year and if he doesnt perform it could most well likely be his last. He is in a team that is willing to blood the youngsters and give the outsiders a go and miller isnt very young anymore at 25 he is suposed to be in his prime but somehow at times he cant find a permanent spot in the team and a role or "niche" in the side.
