Who would you pick?

November 24th 2006 11:48
Who would you pick for the Brownlow next year?
Its the question that all punters want to get right next year and who would you pick.
Would you pick Chris Judd who dominance in the midfeild continiued this year earning him all-australia honours and seeing him to top 3 in the brownlow this year.
He turns 24 next year and that is suposed to be the start of your peaking years in your career so he might just be the favourite again at the start of 2007 for the brownlow.

Or would you pick Brisbane tuff man Jonothan Brown who was the favourite for the award midway through the season until his injury struck him down. I think he turns 26 next year so he's still in his best years of football but it might take him a while to get over the injury but a good pre-season should set him right on track again.

Or finally would you pick newly appointed Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich whose season was agian another good one this year earning him his fourth all-australian honour and he's only 24!
He was the winner of their best and fairest again this year and was their leading goalkicker for the 4th time (he has now won the clubs best and fairest for the all time equal record 3rd time) he is probably the favourite to start off for the Brownlow Medal in 2007 and he probably deserves to be their for all the work he has done so far in his career.

ps there will be more brownlow favourite posts to come in the future

How Much Impact Will It Be?

November 17th 2006 10:26
This years draft is expected to be the best draft since the 2001 draft or maybe even the biggest and best draft ever.
Some names we have already taken in as potential stars are the likes of Gibbs, Gumbleton, Hanson, Luenberger and even Selwood, Jetta and Thorp aswell as the Brown brothers Nathan and Mitchell. These are players all expected to be taken well within the top 10 or 20 and we are probably expecting them to start their AFL careers next year and probably get NAB rising star nominations and maybe even win the award, we are also probably expecting some of these players to become future captains of their chosen clubs.

But the real question is that is this draft going to be the best draft ever seen, I mean we have had some great drafts in the past like the 2001 draft and the just recently seen 2004 draft where players are just starting to show off their talents. But we have also seen some really bad drafts aswell but is it all going to change from now on so lets hope that we see some great talent come out of the next few drafts to come and we see some really good careers too.

The Next Victorian Premiers! part2

November 15th 2006 09:40
Some may believe that the team that has one of the best chances of being the next victorian premiers in the 2007 and probably '08 is Melbourne.
After starting the 2006 season so poorly with losing the first 3 games of the season in a row the dees fought back hard to make the finals and they still managed to make the semi-finals only to lose to Freamantle. But all though they did make half the way to the grand final they still were a fair way off and they need to find a few more good quality players to carry them that extra step ferther, maybe in this years draft they can pick a good talent to take them their.
Anyway Melbourne are still looking like a pretty good team at the moment, with players like youngsters Rivers and Carroll as well as veteren Holland setting up the defence but sooner or later they will need to find a replacement for Holland and they probably should start looking now so a tall Key defender would be a good option in this years draft. But the great form that ernt James McDonald All Australian selection should and for all Melbourne fans hope it can continue in the future at both half back and in the midfeild and also if Whelan can go a hole season without an injury he could stop just about every small forward in the comp.
Their midfeild is also looking very good with players like Bruce in good form is a very dangerous and along with youngster Brock McLean (Who still has room for loads more improvement) he can be pretty dangerous too and will be in the future. If they can also get Johnstone back into some great form he can be very handy player too. Ruckmen White still needs a good back up to help him out so he can play more closer to goal and in defence (if needed) instead of him taking the ruck all the time and getting tired to quickly. And along with hardmen Moloney and Pickett in that midfeild t's one hell of a midfeild.
Their forward line is probably their most important part of the team lead by captain David Neitze at FF and the new improved Brad Miller aswell as Davey, Robertson and Jamar they are expeireinced and young so they tonns of room to improve.
So look out everyone Melbourne are just getting started.

Who is better?

November 14th 2006 12:15
The to three draft picks in the 2001 draft were Luke Hodge, Luke Ball and Chris Judd but can you seperate them?
Luke Hodge got the benefit of being picked up first by Hawthorn in 2001 as draft pick 1. he was the youngest of the three and he looked like in draft camp that he was the best out of them but it didn't last long after being outshined by Judd in the first year of their footbll careers after Judd finished runner-up in the rising star award (behind Nick Reiwoldt) as Hodge finished 3rd overall.
Yes Judd got off to a flying start of his career winning a Brownlow Meadal in just his 3rd year at the age 21 and winning the club best and fairest after finishing in the top three in the club b"n"f since he pulled on the first boot for the club

The Next Victorian Premiers!

November 14th 2006 10:28
Most people seem to think that the next victorian team to bring home the cup will be Hawthorn, amazingly the Hawks look like they will make the finals next year!
Their rebuilding plans are going with a bunch of young soon to be superstars and some of them are already superstsars. With a midfeild that holds Hodge, Mitchall, Bateman,Crawford, Lewis, and the youngster Birchall and in the future will hold the likes of Ellis, Muston, (Travis)Tuck and some players they will pick up this year aswell as their ruckmen Campbell, Taylor and young first yearer Baily their midfeild is looking good.
But what about their defence, well when you have the likes of 2005 all australian CHB in Croad aswell as jacobs, Smith, Brown, Roughead and Brad sewell helping out down their that could just about take on any forward line in the comp but maybe a few minor adjustments will set it straight

The race for the captain of Hawthorn!

November 14th 2006 05:56
Who should it be?
Most people think that either Luke Hodge or Sam Mitchell should be the next captain by the fact that they both have stepped up alot over the last year or two.
Luke Hodge's year was more last year then this year (with him sruggling with injury for most of this year) after he Won their club best and fairest and polled the most Brownlow votes for the club finishing 6th on 15 votes witch is an extreamely good effort for a player whose team finished just 14th on the ladder with 5 wins and 17 losses and everybody was saying that he should be named captain from this year onwards but the club had a different idea after they didn't even name him vice-captain this year instead naming Sam Mitchell vice-captain

Fevola captain?

November 10th 2006 10:12
Should Fevola really be captain of Carlton?
Sure he's a good player and all but after he was sent home from Ireland in the international rules series is he really the right person for the job?
Some people believe the international rules series is a nothing series but who cares he did the wrong thing and he must be penilised and maybe holding him back from the captaincy for a while until he's REALLY learnt his lession he might do the trick
