Flashes of memories - MUGABE MUST GO!!! ZIMBABWEANS NEED THEIR HOME BACK

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness - Carl Jung To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul. - Ralph Waldo Trine

Advertising Madness

I don`t really watch much TV, but since I have been in the UK and have not had my home comforts around me, I have found myself stuck infront of the box on a more regular basis. I noticed that the ads used for kiddies lunch box snacks were a little... off putting to say the least. Surely you would want them to be ENTICED into eating these snacks, not chasing them away from it. I certainly know that if I were a 5 year old and saw these ads I wouldn`t be asking mummy for them for my lunch box...

There is also one in Australia, which I cannot find the YouTube video on. It is for Bega Stringers and has something to do with these happy little cheese stick people who then get ripped apart by the kids who eat them.

Not being a parent i don`t know what a kids reaction to this sort of advertising is? What do you think?

Hi Ash,

I had to watch that twice. I wasn't quite sure what it was advertising.

As for what would my kids think of it? I think they'd be just as confused as I am.

Love & stuff

HAHA I thought it was funny!

'That's the end of you boyo! Off to school to be eaten!'

I don't know what those things are though. They look like twigs.

Hi Mrs M

Ah sorry I should have said - it`s for peperami which is like a salami stick.

Although I think these ads are funny myself I just wonder what impact they would have on kids who see these animated 'creatures' prancing around the screen and then appearing in their lunch boxes

Hiya Michaelie

Yeah they`re the English version of salami sticks. I thought it was funny too, but I wondered what kids would think about it? Seems a strange way to want to get them to eat the stuff!

I have to agree with you there! I was just interested in hearing what kids thought about these sorts of ads, it`s always interesting to see the world through lil ones eyes

See I have a soon to be five year old boy and I live in the UK and yes the advert works, he loves that stuff! I personally find it disgusting and stinky. Boys! It does make me chuckle though. There's another advert for cheese strips which really got Callum's attention and made him want to learn all about where cheese comes from, so it does look like in some bizarre way they do get kids attention these adverts.

By the way I love your photo at the top!

Take Care.

Hiya Sarah

That`s interesting that you mention about boys - I wonder what the girls think about it and if there would be a different reaction from them?

I have seen the cheese sticks one actually... good how it makes them wonder

Hahaha to quote a thing I read recently... looks like the product of 'the jimble jamble of the disengaged mind, that is ...well, not on healthy substances at the time?'

God only knows what kids really think about the world these days. But I did read that four out of five kids think milk comes fromt he supermarket?

Helloo.....anyone out there.....

lol.... I should go into advertising then! I would make a fortune! you can come and visit me in my corporate office overlooking my concrete junge.... PUKE!

Don`t worry when I was in England I heard that when most kids were asked who Churchill was they said the dog from the insurance ad... you sorta need to know UK Tv to get that... but youTube Churchill, UK and you will see!!! I was gobsmacked! My kids are gonna grow up to be such nerdy, dirt eating cavepeople!
