Race To Witch Mountain

July 22nd 2009 02:38

I remember loving this as a child, something about a campervan and being able to move textas WITH YOUR MIND. So I eagerly downloaded watched the new one!

Only to find that the two alien children had become a male version of 'Shadowcat'and a generic telepath. *sigh* Nonetheless, they were amusing as they attempted to communicate with the humans and failed time and again to use their powers to save themselves. It was also quite surprising how simple it was to break into a 'secret'government facility. But I digress, this WAS a children's film after all.

I distracted myself from the poor plot with the eye-candy in the form of Dwayne 'Dreamboat' Johnson. He really is a magnificent looking man. He's so tall and smart (so I hear) and- and- I sound a little like a Twihard..

But how can you argue with this??

The Signal

July 2nd 2009 02:31
I spent a lot of the film wishing I was re-reading Stephen King's 'Cell' which did it better, and the rest trying to figure out if the main girl was Clea Duvall (clearly not) or that chick from 'Dead Like Me' (apparently also not).

Not the finest film ever (not by a long shot), but the knifey/stick weapon was pretty cool.

The middle section was retarded because the 'fine suburban couple' were living in industrial government housing from what I could tell, and frankly her being blinded was pointlessly cruel and violent. I am ALL FOR VIOLENCE IN THE MOVIES but that just wasn't believeable.

Go read 'Cell' instead. It's better.

Terminator Salvation

June 25th 2009 10:24
I am very gullible. My mother once told me that grey pigeons were grey because they were all boys and that the brown ones were girls and I had nightmares about the browns being victimized and gang raped by the greys for a LONG time afterward.

But here, in Terminator 4, I was not surprised at all. Ever. Actually, no. I was surprised at some of the more ridiculous things, like wifey blindy from The Village always being impeccably clean and somehow being able to *SPOILER* perform a heart transplant in a tent, and the fact that by smashing a computer screen, the gorgeously Aussie Sam Worthington managed to take down big momma Helena Bonham Carter, but generally, I was pretty bored plot wise.

Action wise, I loved it! Snake terminators, bike terminators, inexplicably clothes man terminators, giant rip-off Transformer terminators. Awesome. And CGarnIe! He was hot.

Classic Arnie.

CGarnIe.

Something I really want.

The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk

I was kind of a fan of the first Hulk, the Ang Lee directed one that tried to move away from the blockbuster comic book mold and craft a new kind of hero movie. I respect it in a way I could never respect a blockbuster like ‘The Incredible Hulk’. But I am a child of pop culture and I loved the later Hulk a lot more than Ang Lee’s. Shit poster notwithstanding

Wall-E

Amazing.

I had my doubts about this, as I thought the robot 'voices' would grate after a while, but they humanized them just enough that they didn't. I do have two gripes with it

X Men Origins - Wolverine

June 1st 2009 06:02
So I took myself off to see X Men Origins - Wolverine. O.M.F.G. Rather than speak of the multitude of wrong in it, I thought I'd post some hastily gathered junk from the interwebz instead. I think I laughed about the same amount searching for this stuff as I did during Hugh Jackman's piece of shit film, but this time it was from genuine amusement instead of horrified disbelief/hysteria.

First up, some yaoi. Oh yeah, get right up in there Wolvy, Nightcrawler can SO take it, I mean, I'm not the only one who thinks Ultimate Colossus fucked the shit out of him am I

Hellboy II The Golden Army

May 28th 2009 04:39
While the first film was a little lacking, a little too pandering to the fans, a little boring and long, I still loved it. The incredibly hot Hellboy, the incredibly hot Abe Sapien and the amazingly monotonous (thanks Selma Blair), but hot Liz Shermann. The love, the monster (cause for some reason there was only one and a big tentacle in this one) and the bad guy kept me going.

Iron Man

May 28th 2009 04:32
I was always a bit unsure about Iron Man. A man in an iron suit? He’s just a robot basically, but not as unkillable. Well, this movie certainly changed all that! From it’s heavy (in a good way, I suppose ‘rich’ would be a better word, or ‘detailed’) character development to it’s kind of amazing (if a little stereotyped on the ‘Middle Eastern’ front) plot and hero creation in Iron Man, it was a pleasure from start to finish!

I watched the new 'Friday the 13th' which is a mash-up of the first four movies. It was good, and a good idea to combine some movies, cause while I love this series, it really is a predictable, slow-moving affair movie to movie.
