About Me
My name is Kael, I'm into black metal, both as a musician and an avid fan of the genre. I am working on creating an internet-based black metal radio station. I also play bass in the black metal band, Mysteriarch, as well as guitar in Frozen Eclipse. I've got a bit of an obsession with lycanthropy and heathenism. If there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to ask.

I've got a new website HERE It's an extreme metal community with a forum, and it is open to anyone who is into any kind of metal, not exclusive to black metal, or death metal. Please, if you have the time go by and check it out, and maybe join up if you wish. I know I'd appreciate it!

This has got to be one of the most eye-opening films I've ever seen. If you're an American, and you love your country, you need to see this movie.

Last Night's Show

June 23rd 2008 13:25
Last night was horrible. Bune never showed up to play, the monitors were all messed up. The crowd was NOT a black metal crowd at all... If i never have to play another show like that again, I'll be quite happy... But i guess that's all part of being in a band, hah.

Mysteriarch @ Tremont this Sunday (LINK)

June 19th 2008 04:35
My band, Mysteriarch, will be playing our last show with guitarist, Bune, at Tremont Music Hall this Sunday. We will miss playing with Bune and there are no hard feelings. Anyway... other than that, I'm back online now, so I can post more often. Thats some good news right?

Metal Massacre III

May 4th 2008 23:28
So last night was the third annual Metal Massacre festival in Raleigh, North Carolina. The fest featured a nice selection of local talent, including Daylight Dies, who are currently signed to Candlelight Records. My band, Mysteriarch was among the bands on the bill.

The first band of the night, in my humble opinion, was not a metal band at all, but a 60s and 70s rock cover band by the name of Praetorius, they didn't generate a good turn out at all, there were about 5 people there to see

Agalloch - The White EP

agalloch - the white ep
The White EP by Agalloch
The White EP is the latest effort from Oregon's premiere neofolk/pagan metal band, Agalloch. In my opinion it is one of their best works to date, second only to The Mantle.

This EP is mostly instrumental, with one spoken word part on the song "Birch White

Corpsepaint, yes or no?

May 2nd 2008 08:14
So now that I've gotten my first post out of the way, and everyone knows what this blog is and isn't about.... I thought it might be a good idea to see where you all stand on the matter of corpsepaint.

Corpsepaint is a timeless tradition in black metal, and is one of the defining characteristics of the genre in general. In many cases, bands are called black metal simply because they wear corpsepaint. But is it still needed in Black Metal? Has it outlived its usefulness in the genre? Or was it always ridiculous and partly responsible for many people not liking black metal?

Yeah... A lot of people seem to like the neat looking corpsepaint. Some bands can pull it off too... As for me, i stick to teh mess. The first picture up there is actually one of me in corpsepaint... so if that gives you any idea of how I do mine.

Oh yeah... and my avitar here, thats me in corpsepaint too.

Hell yeah! what kind do you prefer? Honestly, i prefer it to look raw and sloppy as hell, just gives a more grim and aggressive look. Some of the more artistic styles can be ok, but i mostly find them to be a bit too artistic. But thats just my opinion on it. Whats yours?

For the very very beginning of their career they wore a type of corpsepaint, didn't last long though. Can't say I ever liked Cradle of Filth, to be honest with you. I'm more into the raw, aggressive type of black metal. Ever heard of Craft, Watain, Carpathian Forest, or Glorior Belli?

Ah Gehenna, there've actually been a number of bands called Gehenna in the past, but the only one that is still active is the one from Norway, and they do use a type of "corpsepaint" but their's is more along a gothy style than a black metal style. They have used a more traditional style corpsepaint in the past, but have since moved toward the more gothy look, as many bands do these days. Thank you very much for your comment and your input!

To be honest, the only thing i disliked about the film was the fact that these were Anthro-werewolves, meaning they stood on two legs the whole time... I rather prefer a more feral representation, Lycanthropes who move on all fours, as well as the occasional bipedal movement.

on Debate Battle! VAMPIRES or WEREWOLVES?

May 2nd 2008 08:33
I'm Kael, i decided to register, hah. Yeah, I tend to like movies most people might hate, doesn't bother me though. I can like or hate a movie for the strangest reasons.... As for the rest of your blog, I haven't gotten the chance to dig too deep as of yet, I do plan on it though, I like reading reviews, even if I've already seen the film, I still want to know where others stand on it. But with the reading up on lycanthropy, There are some good reads out there, oddly enough, some of my favorite has been from the book i told you about in a previous comment, the World of Darkness game book, Werewolf the Forsaken. It has a whole list of references and resources listed in its index, as well as a list of the best werewolf movies and books you can find. Another one that has some interesting historical facts, but is pretty much useless otherwise is called "The Werewolf Book" i believe. I'll need some time to think of more, but I will be sure to get back to you with plenty of resources on it.
