Accidentally Shoplifting?
July 28th 2007 12:55
Last night at Walmart I shoplifted...accidentally. I personally did not even know that was possible. I'm really glad I did not get caught because really, how do you explain it?
I worked 2-11pm last night and it was very busy. Actually, the whole week has been nuts, which I must make another post about later. I was supposed to get cat litter on the way to work but decided to wait until after. I do not normally go to Walmart because it is so busy all the time, but apparently it's not too bad at midnight - besides having only 2 registers open.
I was walking around getting some fruit, a card for a wedding I am going to today, a bottle of vitamins, 2 big things of cat litter and some other items that will hopefully bring good news. Off to the checkout I go. I put everything I see on the belt, and hold up one of the cat litters to be scanned. La-Di-Da out the door I go.
When I'm putting stuff in my car I realize that the vitamins were not rung up or noticed. I thought about keeping them for about 15 seconds. I just could not do that. I walked my cart back up to the door and gave them to the greeter. All I said is that they were in my cart and not mine. Technically true, because they were not my property.
So embarrassing.
PS - How does a pair of pants just disappear? I bought a pair in April for my grandmothers funeral. I know I brought them home because my boyfriend liked them. I can not find them anywhere and sort of need them for this wedding today. I only own paint splattered jeans (from work), definitely not appropriate.
