Above The Law

If you think this is yet another diatribe about the TSA, well you're partially right. The agency is housed under the Transportation Security Administration bureaucracy and may be a time-bomb waiting to happen. It's about the Air Marshal Service and their crimes that are on the rise. From drugs to people trafficking to murder to child molestation, apparently background checks are commonly ignored. Before 9/11 there were about 33 air marshals in the whole system. Now with a $786 million budget, the TSA is able to hire between 3000-4000 air marshals.
Because of the rush to hire air marshals because of our fear-induced society, we have hired out-of-control criminals. The matter probably would have went ignored if not for the protest of overseas agencies about air marshal misconduct.
Talk about a rogue agency, perhaps it is time to re-evaluate the TSA as a whole and make them accountable.
