Ability trends - Vampire Wars

July 2nd 2010 06:23
Just for fun... I looked at the last 23 limited edition abilities, and worked out how many extra ability points each one gives you over the best you can buy from the bazaar (BBB).

For instance, Psychotic Bloodlust is 98/54 Offensive. The best Offensive ability you can buy from the bazaar is Superior Horrific Transformation (62/58). So this LE ability is worth 36 points extra.

The graph comes out like this (with a value of "0" if there was no LE ability in that category for that week): --

Abilities compared - Vampire Wars

What does this mean? Well, not very much: --

1. I'm crap at drawing graphs.

2. There's a gradual upwards trend for all abilities. Today's abilities will always be superseded tomorrow, and that's just the nature of the beast. Zynga want to give old players a reason to keep upgrading their skills, and they also want to level the playing field so that new players aren't scared away.

-- Offensive: Malevolent Fury (85/50; 23 points over BBB) to Psychotic Bloodlust (98/54; 36 over BB) -- increase of 13 points over the last 5 or 6 months
-- Defensive: Hades Smoke (47/80; 45 over BBB) to Gaslight (52/87; 55 over BB) -- increase of 10 points
-- Movement: Black Cat Form (77/46; 17 over BBB) to Superhuman Tracking (80/49; 20 over BB) -- increase of 3 points

3. For what it's worth (which is not very much; this will continually increase over time), the average extra points over best-buyable-from-bazaar are currently:

-- Offensive: 28.57
-- Defensive: 51.5
-- Movement: 18.33
-- Total average: 33.22

This also gives you some indication of whether it's better to spend favor points on LE abilities or skill points or avatars and outfits. For instance, at an average of 33.22 ability points, and a cost of 35 FP per ability, each favor point currently buys you about 0.95 ability points. In comparison, when you spend 25 favor points for 10 skill points at the Elders, each favor point will buy you 0.4 skill points.

4. Defensive LE abilities give you considerably more bang for your buck than anything else, followed by Offensive, then Movement.

5. In the last 5 or 6 months, there's been more Offensive abilities than anything else. 14 Offensive vs 6 Defensive and only 3 Movement.
