A Starting Point
September 28th 2010 14:17
This is day one of my blog, and like anything else it has to have a Starting Point. I love to write and cook so I thought this would be a great way to express myself. When you are a beginning cook recipes should be your Starting Point, but once you have some kind of comfort in the kitchen recipes should only be a Starting Point.
In our own kitchen’s, we all think there is nothing we can’t do. Why do we think that? The answer is we get creative, we try something different. The first time we made tuna casserole, we followed that recipe to a T, and the next 5 times we pretty much did the same thing. Now I want all of you to tweak that recipe, do something a little different BE CREATIVE.
. Recipes now to me in a lot of my dishes are just a starting point if I am using a recipe at all. It is all about confidence, and learning from others. I get a lot of my inspiration from television chefs. I am not going to get my own show tomorrow on Food Network, but in my kitchen I am in charge and I am going to try something different. So be bold, add some balsamic into that sauce, instead of sugar use some jelly for that cupcake. You are in charge of the meal make your Starting Point a memorable one.
I am going to add to this blog on a daily basis and I would love to hear some feedback as to what you have tried that has worked. I will share some of my own trials and errors in the kitchen as well as some other tips, pointers and general observations from the food industry. Thanks for reading my blog, and happy cooking.
