"A special Gift to Nepal!!"
December 11th 2007 22:44
Charlies family thinks of the greatest christmas gifts. I've been
excitedly waiting for them to roll in, Just to see what new,
interesting thing they have come up with. Last year his brother sent
us a tree gift. We could either have One tree for our home, or 90
tree's in a place arround the world. There was a list of places we
could pick from. We picked New Orleans.
We just got an envalope from Charlies sister. I couldn't wait to
open it. She pulled through. . . a wonderful gift to etach my
children of how wonderful it feels to give to others. We have just
sent one sheep to a needy family in Nepal through the "Heifer
International" This is a gift that keeps giving also, teaching others
about giving also. He'res a part of what the brochure says...
Heifer International provides livestock and training so the families
can imporve nutrition and earn income for health care, shelter and
education for children. Each gift multiplies because every family
that receives a heifer animal promises to "Pass on the gift" by
giving one or more of their animal's offspring and knowledge to
another family in need.
sheep have provided milk, wool and meat for people in a wide variety
of climates.

Because of the women that are now caring for these sheep, getting
wool to sell at the market, and earing the money to afford nutritious
meals and start sendng her kids to school, it is live changing. But
theres also something else just as revolutionary now taking place in
Imadol Nepal. You see, the centuries-old custom that women are worth
less then men is being swept away.
woment their illustrate these changing notions with stunning
simplicity,
"My favorite coenerstone is Gender and Family Focus." They
say. "Thats because after I learned this conerstone I began to feed
my girls the same quality of food as I feed my boys. They are
healthier now.
That is soooo sad. They actualy werent even fed the same when they
lived in the same home!!! I cannot even fathem this in our world,
happening Today. I thught Nepal was much different then taht. Next
year in Homeschool history we're learning such, just like this.WOW I
knew nothing about Nepal. Hubby has been there and I will have to ask
about it when he returns. Sooo much to learn, and sooo much change to
be done. It makes you sooo thankful to live where we live.
what a wonderful gift from his sister in honor of our family.
The card said, "A package to follow", wonder what that will be!!!
Still waiting on gifts from his brother who sent tree's last year and
his mom and dads gifts. Can't wait to see what they all pick.
