A Little Big 12* Gossip: Plate Wars
August 22nd 2010 05:54
"Makes my blood boil. Those land thieves should never have anything official in our beloved state."
"Simple fairness. Since the State of Texas has options for several other out-of-state universities, it only makes sense to provide a similar option for Sooners."
"Why would we do anything that would encourage the state's brightest to leave Texas?"
"Sooner fans would be far more likely to buy since they have a tough time showing their pride in a state that normally roots against them."
The ultimate slap in the face that OU fans living in the Lone Star State have longed to give Longhorn fans just got easier to deal.
The state of Texas has a plan to sell a freshly designed Boomer Sooner license plate to resident OU fans, a plan that has the hometown crowd in a frenzy.
The OU plate will be one of the new specialty plates the Texas DMV may adopt as it expands its options for customizable tags.
Both voices of approval and dissent have been voiced, now the decision falls to the nine-member DMV board, which will go over the plates during their August 25th meeting.
For the complete story, check out "The Dallas Morning News"'s coverage of it.
Hard to believe so many people can get riled up about license plates, but then again, this is the OU/Texas rivalry, without a doubt one of the most heated in college football.
If these plates are approved, you can bet The Crusader will be all over it.
