A Glass Half Full or Half Empty
July 31st 2008 14:12
Have you ever been asked the question whether or not a glass is half full or half empty? If you haven't perhaps you should take a bit of time to think about the answer, but really whatever the answer is doesn't matter. What matters most is that you had taken the time to look at the question and answered it from what you believe at that moment in time is the right answer.
A lot of times people often have very strong opinions over a particular subject, and no matter what facts or arguments are given they still believe that theirs is correct. But is there really a true answer? Often we only see things from one perspective, and that is through our eyes and our ears. But does that necessarily mean that it is true? Our eyes can play tricks with our minds and so too does the sound we hear. Or worse sometimes we only choose to see and hear what we already believe is correct and decide not to see or hear the entire facts.
So if we see a glass that was filling to half way point then perhaps the answer should be half full. If we had seen it been emptied to the half way mark then perhaps it should be half empty. But the real point of the matter perhaps isn't whether if the glass is half empty or full, but the fact that there is something in there.
We look at everything and search for answers, which is a good thing, however a lot of the time there are no answers. Finding the answer shouldn't be the goal itself, but the goal should be the journey to the answer we seek so to that end, our search, our goal and our vision is endless. Like the glass with half the content in it, we shouldn't just look at the whole picture, but look deeply into it. For the millions and billions of particles that make up that glass of water or milk, it doesn't really matter whether the glass is half empty or half full.
So doesn't it really matter whether we are from a different race, sex or from a different religion? Our thoughts, our looks, our skin, our blood and even our genes maybe different. But in the end we are all made up of billions and billions of particles from the same matter. In the end we feed the Earth from whence we came. So shouldn't our energy from the life we have be better spent in giving the best of ourselves to the world and live life with no regret.
