Sorry I've not been on for a while, been a tad errrm busy
You see I discovered something in physiology the other week.
The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that tells you body if it's satisfied or not be it hunger, thirst or sexual desire.
I read a lot, I will come back and fill in the rest later, but suffice to say I focused in on what was important to me at the time. How to reduce my hunger.
Appaerntly the hypothalamus cant' really tell what's being satiated it just knows it is. Ergo drinking water when u feel hungry satiates ur appetite unless ur body really is needing nourishment in which case you'll soon feel hungry again.
However, apparently saitating one area heps saitate another.
So I took this literally and set about proving their theory right. Afterall, who wouldn't want to at least attmempt to prove it, right!
So poor hubby has been busy, my appetite for food has gone down dramatically. Don't get me wrong I've been eating and well, it's just that that niggling nagging knawing 'must eat' something that picking even when not really hungry, has all but disappeared.
I've eaten healthier foods too, not out of conscious choice but out of want.
And this week I lost 2 kilograms!!!
So, my advice is go and get..... some lovin
Will post more on hypothalamus later ....
Happy shrinking all.. whatever way you can do it.
The thing with competitioning is you can do it part time, full time or casually. I have my phases. Of late I've been doing it full time and the it's true, the harder I work the luckier I get.
Last week I was judged the major prize winner of a spa retreat in the hinterland.
I've just spent the past three days there and what an amazing adventure it was.
To be so pampered so often, is just amazing. If only they'd had a matchmaking service at the same place it would have been perfect! LOL
I come home from experiences like this and am grateful for my hobby/part time job and where it's taken me and how.
And boy has it taken me.
Only a short one today, I'm still recovering from complete and utter relaxation - a nice place to be, let me tell you!
The best prizes of all are the money can't buy experiences, or rather the if I had the money that could buy that I wouldn't spend it on that experience, kind of experience.
One such is a football game I've won a corporate suite at for me and 10 of my closest friends! In addition I'm now getting brunch for myself and a friend at the players brunch on game day with all teams in the competition. How totally cool is that!
LIve for the experience...
Calorie control alone is not enough to shift this lard that's come to know my body as it's mother ship.
It's time to pull out the big guns (just wish I could afford $250,000 for the complete overhaul and be done with it.. but alas, lotto just isn't playing the game!). And so I've invested in a pedometer. A little grey matchbox size thingymajig that sits on your waistband and counts how many steps you take

]What makes a good competition? Well for a comper it's one where the odds of winning are higher than average, your strengths are utilised and there are quite a few runner up prizes in addition to a major prize.
When looking at a comp to enter, always read the Terms and Conditions. They tell you exactly what's what and can also be an insight into the promoter which helps when a 25 word or less answer is required

I'm constantly amazed that the healthier I eat the more I am able to eat and remain with in my calories. It's not rocket science, but for myself, who's never been a good cook nor judge of something's nutrition, this is a new phenomenon for me.
What I used to eat for morning tea never filled me up and yet used all my week's calories at once. First lesson learnt. Eat breakfast! No, leftover pizza washed down with a coke spider and half a packet of Tim Tams afterwards does not count as breaking the fast. Not that I really ever ate that for breakfast. I was in a shopping centre a few weeks back and a little boy obviously had his pocket money and was looking to waste it on some candy. He said to his father, "Look Dad this one has a competition". The father went on to tell his son the promoters only do that to trick people into spending a little more money at the chance of winning and no one ever wins.
I was in a dilemma. Did I speak up and say um excuse me people do win these prizes, they are legitimate competitions run to increase sales defintely, but genuine nonetheless and yes ordinary people, such as myself do win them, each and every day. [ Click here to read more ]
Changing your lifestyle really isn't that hard at all. Reinventing myself is how I'm looking at it from now on.
After seeing a TV show last night about the top 40 celebrity make-overs, I figure if they can do it, so can I. [ Click here to read more ]
I know I can't win all the time, but today my mail box was empty bar some free sample skin moisturising and cleansers I'd ordered online. I love freebies. They help fill the void til something of substance finds its way to my mailbox.
I've come to depend on regular prizes to fill the birthday, christmas, wedding, social occasion, school raffle, gift box in my cupboard. It's looking a little lean at the moment, so I'm on a comping rampage at the moment. [ Click here to read more ]
Well here we are. Day 1. Let's go!
Full of enthusiasm this morning. Bounced out of bed ready to go, okay, so it was more of a slow death roll til my feet hit ground, but I was bouncing on the inside! [ Click here to read more ]
