Been in school

February 25th 2012 18:49
Hi I have been in school taking chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology 1.

I am going to try to take up where I left off about getting to Tanzania.
I remember feeling and seeing the sun coming through the windows as we came lower and closer to Tanzania. I looked out and saw lots of empty land. The sun seemed so much closer to us. As we drew nearer to the airport, Dar Es Salaam was in view with many buildings and people.
The door opened to the airplane and a rush of hot air blew into the airplane. I am glad I changed my little ones into their summer clothes. The inside of the airport was hot except for this one restaurant area.

I have to go now. My husband is picking me up from school.

No time to write

December 26th 2011 23:45
I wish I had more time to write on this and work on it. I have been going to school, washing clothes by hand and drying them on a line. My husbands always having me look up stuff, get this,do that etc. Then I have children too.

I need an extra 24 hours in each day!

I've Been Busy

October 27th 2011 22:57
I haven't been able to finish my experience in Tanzania and still can't. I am just too busy. I had to abruptly stop last time because someone said, "What are you doing!" "Get off that computer!" How ridiculous is that! Anyway, I have tons of stuff to do right now but will continue soon.
See ya later

Pit Stop England

September 4th 2011 21:44
One thing I was surprised by was the conversion of money between American and Euros. Ours, American, is worth so much less than Euros. For example, an American dollar would get you like 25 cents in Euros. This was back in 2005. It is probably worse now. In Tanzania, American cash is worth more than a shilling there though.
To be continued.....
I am going to be adding more pictures soon. I have started back at college so I am trying to juggle a few things. I will be continuing this intermittently

We went to back to the Chicago O'Hare airpart the next day. I forgot to mention the long lines for the immigrant entry point the night before. It was at least a mile long. This was at 11:00 to 12:00 at night. They were going to be there for hours. I felt bad for them and glad that I was not in that line. I don't think it was only immigrants. Some were just people visiting from another country.
The airport was packed. The security check was not as rigorous as Lambert St. Louis airport. They didn't make you feel like a criminal like St. Louis does. I am from St. Louis and I like it there but their security checks are humiliating. Chicago did what they needed to do, nothing more or less.
We boarded British Airways about 2 hours later. We took off shortly after boarding. It was a really huge airplane. There was a TV screen for each seat. It had GPS system that would track where we at all times. When we were above the Atlantic ocean it showed a little airplane above the ocean. It tracked how long we had been flying and how long we had to go. It told us the temperature outside and how fast the plane was going. It was really cool. We could watch current movies and other things. We could also listen to music

Traveling to Tanzania

August 27th 2011 22:37
Back in November of 2005, my family of 8 and I traveled from St. Louis, Mo to Tanzania, Africa. Just the trip going there was an experience to remember let alone living there for 14 months and the trip back.
The cost of the plane tickets with seven being one way and one of them round trip was between nine and ten thousand dollars. I think that is rather expensive but it was the cheapest we could find at that time of year. I believe we departed a few days after Thanksgiving.
We went through a rigorous security check at Lambert airport, St. Louis. I was wondering if they were going to look inside my eight month old daughter's diaper. I had heard horror stories about that. They didn't but they did look through her blankets covering her and her clothing she was wearing
