Steep two tablespoons of freshly-shredded ginger in just-boiled water, two to three times daily. You may add a bit of honey and lemon. Powdered salabat or ginger tea bags are acceptable quick fixes. Make sure you get the sugar-free variety. For the braver girlfriend, chew on thinly-sliced ginger for sore and itchy throat relief.
